If I'm not on the boards reading, I'm thinking about being on the boards reading, or how can I make my work schedule correspond to having surgery sooner, and and and....etc....

I assume because of the vastness of all the decisions, changes etc that the obsession is totally normal, but sheesh I feel like a crazy lady. It's a good thing my friends love me or they might shoot me for my one track mind.

LOL !!!!

I had never even heard of vsg .... after being told by specialists in one week that I needed to lose 50+ pounds, I started researching what my options were. I knew I didn't want bypass surgery and found the lapband. Since it was reversible, I was sure that would be my answer. However the more I read about fills and complications, I started changing my mind. I discovered vsg on another board and was thrilled. I had also met a gal about a month before who had sleeve surgery, but I didn't know what she was talking about. I only "heard" the part about her going from a size 22 to a 6 in one year. I called her back and got lots of great info from her.

Mainly, my husband was the only person locally who knew about the surgery ahead of time. I am sure I drove him crazy. I spent three days glued to the computer, emailing clinics and coordinators, reading and reading.

I am very happy with my decision and only wish I would have known about it sooner! And yes, I think many of us obsessed with the surgery itself, food, etc :redface1:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
