Hi Dalal, There are several people over on obestityhelp dot com that have used Dr. Cirangle. If you go to that site, look for the VSG forum. I think that MacMadame occasionally posts here. She is very pleased with him. I can think of several people over there who have used him. He has an excellent reputation. He's in my area and I would probably have wanted to use him if my Kaiser didn't cover the Sleeve.

Oh golly, I see that you are coming to my neighborhood. Will you be traveling alone? Do you know where you will be staying post-op? I hope that you are allowing for a bit of site seeing post-op if you are new to the area. Do you know what hospital you will be in for your surgery?

Dr. C is one of the pioneers of the sleeve. I believe he charges about $17,000 for self-pay. If I were in the Bay Area I would definitely have wanted to have used him.

There are a lot of people that have gone to him. He is a very good doctor, if you have insurance and can afford him.

Yeah so i'vee heard! I actually did my research before choosing him as a surgeon knowin hes one of the best. But i was a bit worried when i joined this forum, that no body was

mentioning him.

ANd yeah its my frist time in SF. I've been to LA and San Diego last year on my honeymoon, and we were to suppose to go to SF after LA. But unfortunately, because of the swine flu

outbreak, we had to cut our honeymoon short and go back :wink1:

I believe the hospital where my sleeve is going to take place is The California Pacific Medical Center.

I'm staying for 2 weeks after my surgery. So yeah .. am hoping all goes well and i can actually

have a look around before i leave. Any suggestions or recommendations? :)

Dalal, we can talk about it when you get closer to your surgery date. There are lots of fun things to do in the Bay Area and lots of great fun that are day trips away like Napa, Half Moon Bay etc. Will your husband be with you? This is so exciting for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
