I had laproscopic surgery to remove my gall bladder in 2004 and my scars have faded tremendously. Now I have 5 new littles ones tho! My BMI started out at 33. I also have few stretch marks from being pregnant. I started each pregnancy around 125-130, gained 30-40 pounds and delivered three 9lb+ babies. My larger scars from a breast lift and Tummy Tuck in 2007 are still visible but are also fading.

The scars aren't bad, very small. My stretch marks from having our babies are far worse than the scarring is.

We were thinking along the same lines! Babies and stretch marks! : ) This surgery might have even been easier than delivery! haha!

I have one 2-inch scar right above my belly button. I am only 2 weeks out, so the bruising isn't even gone yet. Not sure what it will look like, but doc told me it will be barely visible...he used glue (no stitches or staples).

I'm almost 3 months out from my revision and my scars are very minimal. I had the lap band done one year ago, so I have double the scars. But they are all just little silver lines. Some of them are no bigger than my pinky nail. I'm 50 years old and I will probably wear a 2 piece swimming suit again!!!

Good luck, and happy losing!

Well you just never know about me, I just might!!! I have had a Tummy Tuck and breast reduction too, I have the cutest little belly button now!!! Well we live close enough, we could meet up and do it together...lol!! I would hate for it to set off the metal detector, I always have enough trouble getting through those things!!

Wondering what, if anything, you are all using to treat your scars? I'm trying these silicone patch things, they seem to help a bit. Anyone else? A couple of my scars are very discolored, and some are even sort of keloids.

Best!

Best! :001_tongue:

When I had my first cosmetic surgery in 1999, the surgeon did suggest a cream that I was to use after a few weeks. I don't remember the details, sorry. However, when I had my Tummy Tuck in 2007, they did not suggest anything. My scars have slowly faded on their own - the ones from my lap gall bladder surgery in 2004 are hardly even visible.

I do have bigger marks from the tummy tuck in a couple of places (where the drain was) and have wondered about having a little surgery to make those smaller - if that is possible. However, even a bikini bottom would cover them so its not really a big deal.

Hope you are able to find something to help!

I haven't been diligent about using my Mederma, but mine have faded considerably over the last few months. They've also shrunk in size as I've lost weight around my upper torso. One thing my dermatologist suggested for any keloids that may develop with any of my scars (15 in all) is to come see her, and she would inject a corticosteroid into the keloid, and it apparently shrinks the keloid so it lies flat instead of being raised. She did advise me for large keloids that the injections are not that successful, but for the small lap sites, or incisions that she had seen good results if recognized and treated early.

I had my gallbadder removed in 2004 and you really can not see the scars at all. I don't think you would even notice them up close unless you knew they were there. My vsg scars are still new since I am only 2 and half weeks post-op but they are as well very small. I remember my gallbladder scars looking worse right after surgery than these do now so I imagine mine will be practically invisible in a year or two. Also, I was so impressed with my surgeon when I came out of surgery and I literally had no bruising it was incredible. When I had my gallbladder surgery my stomach was black and blue. It looked awful and was fairly painful but really not a bruise in sight. Very strange. Careful hands I suppose. Did you guys have bruising on your stomachs after surgery? I really expected to.

I didn't have bruising with any of my abdominal or lap surgeries. Worst I have ever had was when they tried to start iv's in my hands years ago. Never again! I looked like I had been in a fight and lost. And they finally had to start the iv in my wrist. Was awful!

I had mine two weeks ago and they're minimal. There are four holes .Three really small ones and on larger one below my diaphragm. My incisions were glued together..He did not stitch at all unless it was below the surface and those are going to go away by themselves. I am almost completely healed. I can go in bath and hot tub. I don't think they'll show hardly at all. It's surprisingly minimal. I am a low BMI. Seaview

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
