Do Not Feed The TROLLS

Recommended Posts

Good Info... Have we had trolls here before?

I used to moderate at another message board and we always had trolls. It was nasty and I first we didn't understand to ignore them and that made it worse.

Wow. Very nice article... I read the flame war one too. I think we've had a couple trolls here... they didn't stay too long, thank goodness!

Others are hybrids, lol. :( (I'm so bad!)

I had no idea there were even names for these people. I can say I've seen trolls on here and now I am armed to deal with them. :heh:

Thanks for sharing this article!!!

I guess I haven't been here long enough to come across a troll. No worries though, I will not engage!!!

*jots down note to self..."do not engage trolls"*.

Best just to ignore them. I was once a member of a site called 9Months which has been utterly ruined by trolls because people just could not ignore them, but had to bite. Some of us broke off about 3 years ago and formed a private MSN group out of which I've made lifelong real life friendships. But 9M is a joke now, its overrun with trolls.

Four easy steps to solve problems with such people:

1. Click on the user's name.

2. Click on view user profile.

3. Click on Add (user's name) to your ignore list.

4. Click on Submit.

Works very very well.

Great Idea. I always forget about that option because I worry that I'll miss something... actually anything a real troll would say wouldn't even be interesting.

I guess I would worry that I was ignoring a memeber that was just having a bad day. As I learn people here I guess I won't mix up people as much.

That was interesting and very informative! I also clicked on the Flame Wars article and found out I have been spelling "definitely" wrong all these years. I have typed "definately" well...my whole life? Is that possible?! Didn't I go to college? helllooo!! Missed that one. LOL

Kathy, Google has a great tool bar that has spell check, I couldn't believe how bad my typing and spelling had gotten. I love having it. I kept having a problem with lose vs loose, duhhhh me, LOL.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
