Weighing meat: before or after cooking?

Recommended Posts

I just got to thinking the other day... most of the meat I've had has either been pre-measured and cooked (lunchmeat, chicken sausage, turkey burgers, etc.) ... but what about home-cooked stuff? Are you counting the weight raw or cooked? Just curious... probably doesn't make a huge difference with the amount we're eating anyway, but just kinda wondered.

I never weighed my food with a scale. I measured by volume using a children's medication measuring cup that is 1 ounce.

**Warning the next paragraph is gross**

This is so gross, but one day I was curious, and feeling geeky so I measured out my meal, chewed it up then spit it out and measured it to see how much I was actually swallowing.

In my seminar they told us to measure our food by volume not by weight. I don't know about the before or after weighing.. but I think it would be after.:confused1:

Measuring here as well, but I like to throw it on the scale for an idea of the weight as well. My plan at 1 month out is 1/4 to 1/3 of dense Protein then 1 T of fruit or veggies and 1 serving of carbs (2 WW crackers, 1/4 slice well toasted bread, 1/8 small baked potato). I skip the carb and most always eat just Protein.< /strong>

2 oz of meatloaf completely fills me up. I can eat 3 oz of soft fish. 2 oz of chicken etc.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
