When did exercising took place in your journey?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for this tip. I know that there's a severe weight limitation in the first 6 weeks, but it looks like I should keep it light for the first three months, too.

After that, I guess, it's just basic exercise common sense and smart lifting (the old lift with your legs, not your back, kinda stuff).

You got it! Good luck on your sleeve journey!

Hi there! I am having surgery next Friday. I checked out this thread, since I am already committed to doing the 3 day 60 miles Susan G Komen walk in Novemeber and really need to get my training in. I did the walk in Philly in October (at 280 pds) but I trained for 7 months to get ready. I did 4 miles yesterday, but at the height of my training last year I was doing 18 miles on Saturday then 12 miles on Sunday.

My thinking is athough I have to be thoughtful about recuperating....if I can walk 18 miles at 280 pounds...I KNOW I can push through and find the energy I will need to work out after my surgery. THe walk was the first time in 30 years I had execercised and I'm grateful I did it....but I have to say the minute the walk was over I STOPPED and gained 20 pounds...which put me at 300.

The damn extra weight has made it hard to mentally and physically get it together...but I KNOW excercise is a key to my long term health and success.

Sending you great wishes for your surgery and a speedy recovery!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
