Lets start a list of reasons to lose weight.....

Recommended Posts

Hi,

my surgery date is June 6th with Dr Kuri in Mexico. I'm on the pre-op diet and feeling sorta proteined out... I could use some reminders of why we are willing to go through this, give up soda, maybe even ice cream, I know from when I have lost weight before that soon as I start feeling OK again I seem to forget how REALLY HORRIBLE it feels to be morbidly obiese. When you have 100 plus to lose it never hurts to remember what it was like in "the fat old days" here are some to get us started:

(1) I would like to be able to reach all my own body parts.

(2) I would like to sleep with one or two pillows instead of five.

(3) I would like to have a neck.

(4) I would like to lay down without my neck and chest meeting & rubbing

(5) I would like to be able to stand without back pain.

(6) I would like to snuggle with my husband instead of a CPAP mask!

(7) I would like to have a lap for my grandchildren to snuggle on.

(8) I would like to be able to walk without foot pain.

(9) I would like to be able to walk without my belly leading the way.

(10) I would like to be able to walk without my face turning red and heart

racing.

I'm sure there are many more we can add so please feel free to do so. I think we all share in the frustration and the many embarasing moments...

Rett

Just to feel better generally. I had 35kg to lose when I had surgery (about 90lb or so). So I didnt think I'd gotten to a point of fatness where my weight was really affecting me, I didnt even really accept that my ankle problem was weight related - I honestly thought I had some obscure injury.

Six months on, 45lb down or so and I cannot believe how much more comfortable I am all round. I didnt realise how poorly I had been sleeping, it was like trying to sleep when you're 8 months pregnant, you know that hip and shoulder ache you get from lying on your side, due to the weight through your belly? I had that every night and I didnt even have a particularly big belly. Sore back, again like when you're heavily pregnant. Sore knees, sore ankles, no energy.

I surprise myself by doing things like running up stairs, bounding up travelators and escalators and powering past people when I"m just walking through the shopping centre.

You dont realise what a burden your weight is till you lose some of it.

1. To be able to shop in regular clothing stores and clothes fit.

2. For my feet not to hurt from holding up all this weight.

3. To be comfortable having my picture taken

4. To not have two chins :D
