Hello and welcome to VST!

I've heard many different things. My doctor didn't recommend anything special. I'm eating low carb, trying to keep the food under 30 grams a day. Here are the Cornell recommendations.

Weeks 0-2: Total Cal: 400-600 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70

Weeks 3 - 3 months (Soft Foods): Total Cal: 600-800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90

3 - 12 months (Regular Food): Tota Cal: <800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90

After Reaching Goal (Regular Food): Tota Cal: 1000 - 1200 Total Carbs: 40 - 60 Total Protein: 70 - 90

Every program is different, but my surgeon recommended less than 30grams of carbs a day, a minimum of 60grams of Protein and 64ounces of clear fluids.

I didn't count net carbs vs. regular carbs, a carb was a carb to me during my losing phase.

On my 1 month pre-op diet (modified Atkins) I tried to keep my carbs below 30 grams per day on the recommendation of my nutritionist. I lost 16 pounds that month. The first 3 months post-op I continued to keep it at 30 or under. I now eat between 30-100 per day and am able to maintain, but know I can go back to low carb if I see a gain.
