Thanks so much for all of the information. I did book a first class flight, kind of pricey but I figure I am worth it.

The best to you both, you are going to be in good hands with Dr. Aceves and his staff. By the way, we stayed an extra night at the hotel in San Diego and was so glad of it! At the airport there was a Java juice that made the best clear fruit juice slushy, no seeds, felt so good on my tummy. Nursed that for hours.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip on the Jamba Juice! I wanted to stay the extra day but that just did not work out. I found out my friend can't make it so I am going it alone. Will they let you take the drink through security? I am afraid to drink anything on the plane, would not be pleasant to have gas or anything like that on the way home. I seem to be obsessed with the plane. LOL

The plane trip home was also my biggest concern. I went to Dr. Almanza who also keeps you three nights altho you could stay longer if you wanted or needed to.

The first day or two after surgery, I was thinking about changing my flights and going home over a two day period, even tho it was only two 2+ hour flights. I was traveling alone and felt very tired.

By the third day, I felt so much better and was so excited to go home. I had made my reservations with Southwest; I think they are about the only airline that allows you to change flights without a penalty. The unused portion stays as a credit for one year or you can just change your flight and pay for any difference in fares.

I did splurge at the last minute at the airport and cancel my flight home on SW and book a first class seat on a nonstop Alaska flight. It was the best thing I did. The larger, more comfy seat made a huge difference. I travel alot and that was my first time in first class. Kinda dumb since I couldn't take advantage of the free drinks and nicer meals! LOL

I had packed very light and only had one carryon. I didn't have any problems walking thru the airport at all. I think alot of it is also mental and the more positive you are, the better you will feel.

I drank watered down apple juice and ate yogurt on the flight home. Hot tea would have been good also tho. I have used it often to settle my stomach anytime it is a little upset.

Good luck! You will love the results!

YES YOU ARE!!!! And that was exactly my thought as well. I rarely splurge and this was the right time to do it!

That is great, I love it the last minute change. I went there last summer and had the best time. Thanks for sharing your experiance. I am starting to feel allot better. I think with a layover my flights are around 9 hours. I just need to keep repeating the phrase"relax".

You can get the Jamba juice after security so it is with you on the plane if you want. I was nervous about the flight also and did the walk up the aisle a couple times, my flight went to Charlotte and I was really fine with it but was sooo gladdd to be home in my bed. Get a med to relax you if need, Dr. Aceves will help you with that. Maybe a Xanax? Don't project problems for yourself,(I know how to do that also). :thumbup1:

:smile1:I know, I have calmed down allot. I now am thinking about hairloss! LOL I have already lost so much hair due to thyroid meds. but the worst that can happen is I go bald for awhile and they make wigs for that. Did you worry about blood clots on a long flight so soon after surgery? Thanks so much for the advice, I realy do appreciate it!

My apprehension about the flight was the travel time, even tho mine was fairly short, and blood clots. I have had an issue with swelling of the ankles and feet alot in the past couple of years, so usually get an aisle seat so I can walk periodically. If not, I try to stretch my legs and feet as much as possible.

Again - I just went with the odds. Seems many people have had the surgery and then flown a few days later . . . so I just tried to stay positive and not worry too much! Another reason while I walked thru the airport and stood most of time before the flight. I wanted to keep my sitting to a minimum:wink0:.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
