Tonya, please be careful with the immodium. I was not able to tolerate a Protein shake from days 5 to 10. I had violent runs when I tried. I discovered that it was the "whey" Protein powders causing the problem. I tried Muscle Milk Light which is lactose free and did just fine. The runs stopped as soon as I quit the whey protein. Now at three weeks out I can tolerate dairy and whey again just fine. I think we lose some of the enzyme necessary to process the lactose but then regain it when we're out a bit further from surgery.

I did not worry at all about my protein in the first two weeks. I did what I could and knew that I'd have lots of opportunity to up my protein grams. In the first two weeks, just be sure to get all your fluids in so that you don't get dehydrated.

I had my surgery this past Monday as well. I have been keeping something to drink with me at all times and I am actually now able to drink about 50oz in a day. My issue is getting in all the Protein. I just can't seem to get it all in and it seems as though I am having some issues digesting it. I have already had to take 3 immodium today. I certainly don't want to loose the liquid I am trying so hard to intake. My stomach also still gurgles with everything I intake and I occasionally get sharp pains from the gas still stuck inside the tube. I do really well with warm liquids and absolutely love broths. I also really like to mix my Protein with Powerade zero. I have found that I also don't have much tolerence for plain Water anymore and I loved to drink Water prior to surgery. I am having some head hunger. There are some foods that my head is really craving but I just try to stay busy or walk, so I don't think about it.

I am 6 months out now and still do not tolerate plain water. I dilute my Vitamin water bottles with half water and add stevia to restore the sweet flavor. I can detect the water in it still. It sort of lays heavy in me. I am thinking of trying water from a super water purifier that my friend owns from Nikken. If I can tolorate her water then I may buy the H2O purifier for myself at home.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
