Anyone else only have to be on clear liquids the day before surgery?

Yep! That's all my surgeon required, although I put myself on hardcord Atkins for a few days before to get the sugar out of my system.

I was shocked when I found out I was only going to have a two day pre-op diet! I think I am going to start a high Protein low carb diet this Sunday, my surgery is Wednesday, March 24 so that will give me about a week and a half. It certainly can't hurt and I would like the head start! When are you scheduled?

I totally understand, everyone keeps asking if I am excited and all I can say is "I am but I just want to be on the other side of it". I read your post about being fearful of leaving your daughter and I was so touched by it I couldn't even reply. My youngest is 17 and I share your fears! I am quite sure your daughter is much younger. But, on the other hand I am 49, diabetic, high blood pressure and just plain sick of not being able to move freely. I prayed for you yesterday and will continue to do so.

Robbie, than you so much. I am extremely touch that you had me in your prayers. I attribute the generous and caring people like you to making me feel so much better than I did when I first wrote that post. I was in a bad place then. Your prayers have brought me peace of mind and that I thank you and the others from the bottom of my heart.

When I finally get to that stage, I will be on 1000 calorie diet for 2 weeks. 2 meals with Protein shakes and dinner of 3 1/2 oz Protein, 1 cup of veggies with 1 tsp evoo, and 1 cup of fruit with 1 tsp evoo.....

Hope I can survive the hunger issue......

Through all the tests I've been through in the last 3 weeks, I just keep telling myself, "It's for the surgery....It's for the surgery" lol

breekahouse - I had 1-day of clear fluids before surgery also. Also the 1st week was clear fluids and now as I'm in my 2nd week I'm on full liquids. Then I move to mushies for 2 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
