Anyone planning surgery end of April in Mexico?

Recommended Posts

I am planning on having the sleeve procedure in Mexico the end of April. I have been researching for hours on end. I now have a possible 2 or 3 surgeons and plan to make a decision soon. If you are going the end of April, please contact me, maybe we can share info and support.

Thanks,

Brenda

I've been considering and researching sleeve surgery in Mexico. I've been looking at Dr Almanza or Dr Zapata. I have a friend who went to Dr Zapata. That friend is also a nurse. The price is better with Almanza but safety is my first concern

if you haven't made your decision, i definitely suggest dr. aceves. he is reliable and professional. his staff is always there ready to assist you in anyway. i didn't have any complications and i highly recommend him. :)

:thumbup:I just had surgery in Mexico with Dr. Alberto Aceves at Almatar hospital on Feb. 9th. I have never had better care in any hospital in the USA. I saw Dr. Acevas at least 3 times a day usually more. Dr. Campos his assistant 5,6 and 7 times a day. The cleaning ladies came in 3 times a day to completely mop down my room, the bathroom and shower. And then they would go around both rooms and sanitize. Dr. Aceves is a member of the F.A.C.S.(Fellow of the American College of Surgeons) He has his main office in Calexico,U.S.A. but goes a block and a half across the border in Mexicali to do his surgeries in Mexico. They pick you up at San Diego airport and take you by van across the border. You don't have to have a passport if you have an enhanced drivers license and drive across the border. If you go on to Obesityhelp.com and look up Midwesterngirl she did extensive research before picking Dr. Aceves, and she has listings on how to research a doctor in Mexico. Good luck, it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself.

I had surgery with Dr. Aceves on Monday the 8th and would definitely recommend him to anyone who is going to Mexico. Hey Windsor...What room were you in? I walked the halls often with someone who was from Virginia and I agree with your assessment of Dr. Aceves and Campos. Everyone was very attentive.

I was just sleeved on the 8th with Dr. Pompa in Tijuana. You can check out her clinic at Medical Weight Loss Surgery Center - Improve Your Health!. It was an excellent experience considering I just went thru surgery. They pick you up at the San Diego Airport and it is a short 20 min drive to the clinic. The staff ALL speak excellent english and are very attentive. They ONLY do 3 surgeries a day. There is a doctor who stays overnight - not a nurse. Always a doctor and a nurse on duty during the day and there were only 3 patients. Whenever I needed medication, I was promptly attended to. The entire clinic facility is clean, modern and very organized. I also liked that we had a nutritionist as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Pompa and her staff. The super bonus was that never having a communication problem with the staff as they all spoke excellent English. Check out the website. You will be impressed!

Yes I have considered Dr. Aceves. I am not going to make the end of April though. I am working on some medical issues with my doctor and of course it is taking longer than I thought. I do know that my insurance won't cover any wls so I am self pay for sure. With the doctor wanting me to have the lap band and I am leaning toward the sleeve, I am trying to keep an open mind for both. So I have been researching the band virus the sleeve. Anyway, I will get there. I need some tests done and the insurance company is dragging the approval out for those. Still working on it all.

Thanks for your response. Brenda

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
