I have lost 61 lbs in a little under 2 months (almost halfway to my goal weight). I am losing very slow (if at all) now. How do you know when you have hit a plateau? How often do you weigh? What have any of you done? This has been an extremely helpful group (a big part of my success to date). Thanks in advance for your insight! :confused1:

Official stalls happen when you lose absolutely zero weight for a minimum of 14 days.

I never had a true stall, but was prepared if I did encounter one. Decrease carbs, increase Protein, up exercise, and sometimes increasing calories even by a mere 100 calories a day for a week breaks the stall.

I had a bit of stall right before I hit goal in December, and now I lose sporadically. I'm trying to maintain at this point.

I'm a scale-whore, and weigh every day now, and during my losing phase, I would weigh several times a day. It worked for me, but others do not weigh as often and that works for them. Take measurements especially if you are working out this will help get you through the scale stalls.

Can't really add more to what Tiff said. I think stalls are just part of the deal. Our bodies go "Whoa - what have you done to me?".

I did want to say WOW about your weightloss to date. AWESOME job!

I was sleeved on Jan 4th and have lost 29 pounds but seem to be stuck. And I seem to have the weirdest cravings for sugar Cookies. What the heck is wrong with me? I only have one pound to go to get to the one hundreds but can't seem to move the scale at all and all I think about are those darn sugar cookies. I hope I didn't do this surgery in vain. I really don't want to be heavy forever.

Thanks

Stacey

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
