Hi All,

I've been lurking for awhile and just wanted to say hello.

I'll officially join the ranks of sleevers tomorrow.

As a sufferer of fibro my surgeon thinks that the sleeve and weight loss could help alleviate a lot of the pain I have on a daily basis and prevent my weight from climbing which it has done steadily since my diagnosis.

I am super excited and can't wait.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for the encouragement and well wishes. They really mean a lot to me! Surgery went really well and I only ended up with one incision site. I am horrible with anesthesia and pain meds though so the rest of the day was pretty awful. I couldn't keep my sips down so that was pretty rough on the new tummy.

The nursing staff was great and the Dr. was was very encouraging though so I made it through to day two. I am doing much better today and the nausea has largely subsided although now I have intermittent hiccups. Ouchy! Why can't I just be normal and pass gas?! Who would have ever thought I'd be praying to let a few rip. I just know I'd be so much more comfortable afterward. I'm pretty mobile (in a careful not to pull my incision sort of way) so I am hoping the walking will help.

The Dr. let me decide if I wanted to stay a second night in the hospital and I opted to come home. I'd already blown 3 IVs so my arms above anything else were begging to be set free. Now I've just got to sip sip sip to stay hydrated!

I'll keep posting away in the meantime. Thanks for listening!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
