I need some advice. I'm still losing weight consistently but at a very slow rate. I'm losing 1/2 pound every other day. Seems like that has been the standard for the last couple of weeks (possibly 3 weeks). At that rate...it will put me losing 7 pounds every 28 days. Does this seem like a good weight loss or does it seem very minimal to anyone else?

I am walking a minimum of one mile per day. I've made my 64 ozs of fluids all but about 3 days in the last 3 weeks. Is there anything I should be doing different to bring up the weight loss, or is this going to be my typical loss over the next months?

Here's a brief overview of my calorie intake:

Any advice or input would be appreciated. :)

Hi Barbara,

I've read that 5-10 pounds a month is usual after Sleeve surgery, so you seem to be right on track. At 7 pounds a month you'd lose your weight in 11 months. How cool would that be? I bet there will be months when you'll lose more than that.

Your fat looks a little high to me for the calories you're eating. What are your fat sources? I look to the Cornell guide for calories, carbs and Protein but they don't talk about fat.

I'm still really new post-op, today starts week 3 for me. Still on full liquids. My fat yesterday was 7 grams with 417 calories. I bet my fat will also go up on pureed foods.

Cornell Guide:

Weeks 3 - 3 months (Soft Foods): Total Cal: 600-800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90

3 - 12 months (Regular Food): Tota Cal: <800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90

I know some of the more experiences Sleevers will chime in with advice for you.

I think you're doing great!

It looks to me like your doing a great job with excersize and caloric/carb/protein/water intake!!! It takes some discipline to keep track daily. .5lbs every other day is great too. Keep up the good work.

Lee, Here's an example for Feb 15th where my fat was 31.

Breakfast:

1mug herbal tea

1 cup skim milk w whey Protein mix

Total fat for Breakfast was 2.44

Lunch:

1/2 cup Tomato basil Soup

Total fat for lunch was 11

dinner:

1 1/2 mini sweet pickle

1 large hard boiled egg

1 tbsp light mayo

Total fat for dinner was 10.26

snacks:

1 Protein shot

1 tbsp Peanut Butter

Total snack fat was 8.06

Maybe I need to cut the fat down some.

I think you're doing an awesome job. I bet if you just keep doing what you're doing, you'll be at goal before you know it. Maybe on the weekends you can walk a little longer? I find that I lose better when I can up the exercise a little. I'm still at the one mile a day point but hope to up it to two miles in the next few weeks.

Take pride in all the things you're doing to improve your health. You deserve big kudos for that!

Sounds like you are right on track! I wouldn't change anything with your diet as long as you are losing on a consistent basis. GREAT JOB!

Those numbers are fabulous. Are you getting in the 64oz of Water? If not, increase your water to flush everything out. It really does help. But, you're doing really well.

Thanks for your responses everyone! Guess I need to whine more often. Yesterday morning I weighed and lost the typical 1/2lb after 2 days, this morning I weighed and lost a pound.

Tiff...I have been doing fairly good on my Water, but I defintely have missed a few days of getting it all in. I'm gonna work on that. Thanks

I remember how hard it was to lose 7 lbs in a month before the sleeve... You are doing fabulous - the weight will come off! Try not to step on the scale more than once a week. Focus on the healthy side of life and less on the scale. I should know - I'm trying to break the "scale whore" habit too!:001_tongue:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
