Just a quick introduction

Recommended Posts

I just found this site today. Someone on my other support board I frequent was talking about this site.

My name is Angie, I was banded on 10/7/05 by Dr. Kuri in Tiajuna, Mexico (Not sure if I spelled that right) I have lost 32 lbs. This is better then gaining and I feel much better then before banding but I feel I should be farther in my journey then this. I am losing again after being at the same weight for over two months. I am at a 2.8cc fill and get my fills from a great Washington Dr. I would love to go back to Dr. Kuri but I can not afford that trip each time I have a fill so I decided to go with a Doc I can drive to in a couple hours.

I would love to hear from people that have had a slow but successful journey. I am sure I am going to make it I am just not sure how long it will take. I am very excited to be a normal size and shop in the regular section for clothes some day. I have no idea what I will look like at my goal weight because I don't remember ever weighing that amount.

Hope to meet some wonderful people here

Hi Angie,

Welcome to LBT. Where are you from? Somewhere in the Northwest I assume.

I'm a pretty new bandster (May 1), but I have found so much support and friendship on this board.

I think your weight loss is great. Without the band it could have gone the other direction. Some people just lose more slowly. I think any loss is a huge success.

Keep up the great work!

Welcome to LBT, Angie. There are some great people here and they are wonderful about answering your questions. I think you are doing a fine job with your band. My DW is the banded one and I'm the support team. MsJoy was banded 12-28-05 and has lost about 40 lbs. She takes all the advice I give her about her band and she, so far, has not had any problems whatsoever. Slow, but steady....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
