I've been reading and re-reading the information on this forum for a couple of months now and felt it was finally time to say hello. I have been overweight/obese in some form or another for my entire life, and can't remember the last time I weighed less than 200 lbs.

I am an army spouse in S. Korea with a scheduled surgery date of March 8th. I originally started out as one of the staunch believers in the lapband (mainly because my mother found success with her band) until I began reading about the sleeve. I knew nothing about the sleeve until I found this forum, which has provided me with a wealth of information, as well as some reassurances. So for that, I truly thank you all .

I look forward to getting to know you all and becoming an addition to the loser's club!

Sincerly,

Kim

Welcome. I haven't been here very long either, but have learned a lot. This is one of the friendliest and most non-judgemental WLS forums I've found. Good luck with your surgery!

Welcome Kim and Kelkie, glad to see you joined us and more glad to hear you have changed your mind from the band to the sleeve. . . you'll really be glad you did, once you get used to it. . . it's a strange little thing, but sure does work well. . . I've lost 53 lbs (more now i'm sure) in 7 weeks, and am going on 9 weeks post op. . .i don't weigh myself at all except for at the doctor appt's. . . the reason is that i hear about all these "stalls" I don't want to get upset, depressed or obssessed with my weight loss, so i just threw away my scale the day i came home from surgery and make due with the doctor visits and the clothes changes. . . i've come from 4X uniforms to 2X uniforms which are now becoming loose as well. . . but good luck to you with your surgery and the best with your journey!:confused1:

KimChi, Hi and welcome to the forum. I was one of the people who also was going to get the band until I found out about all the complications and found out about the sleeve. Best wishes to you along this wonderful/new journey. Look forward to hearing how you are doing along the way.

Welcome Kim! I think many of us started looking into getting the band. I'm so happy that I began reading and learning about vsg...it's been one of the best things I've done for myself and I hope you'll feel the same.

Please feel free to ask any questions you have along the way. There are many knowledgeable people here who love to share their experiences. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
