barbannn 4 Posted February 22, 2010 I really have enjoyed taking the chewable multi-vitamins, Viactive, but now I cannot seem to find them without Calcium. Their calcium is not calcium citrate - which is what I was told to take. I was told NOT to take calcium carbonate. Do any of you have a source for a chewable like the Viactiv that does not have the calcium? I take the calcium citrate separately with a Bariatric Advantage supplement. Thanks so much for your help! Malaika 50 Posted February 22, 2010 The Viactiv doesn't come without Calcium as it is advertised as a calcium supplement, not a Vitamin supplement. I buy some Adult gummy vitamins at costco that are very good.
Ellisa 6 Posted August 24, 2010 Viactive does make Vitamins without Calcium, but they are hard to find. I used to get them at Walmart. Here's a link. https://www.viactiv.com/products/index.jhtml?id=viactiv/multivitamins/multivitamin.inc
Ellisa 6 Posted August 24, 2010 Sorry, didn't realize this was so old.
barbannn 4 Posted August 25, 2010 Thanks for the scoop! I just ordered some from Amazon, but they still do have some Calcium. I don't guess that is really bad, it is just not the recommended type we take, so I also take the correct type in a calcium supplement. I will check at Wallyworld the next time I am there. I usually go to Sams, so maybe they have it too!
Ellisa 6 Posted August 25, 2010 I don't think it's just WLS patients who are told they shouldn't take Calcium carbonate. There's some controversy about the absorbability of it and whether or not it contributes to certain kidney stones. I read recently that calcium (both citrate and carbonate) require high amounts of acid to absorb and should be taken with meals so that your stomach is producing acid. Who knows. My only issue with Viactive calcium and Vitamins is the sugar and fat, but maybe that's so they will absorb better. I prefer to take infant liquid Vitamins after I "discovered" them. 1/2 teaspoon and chase with a sip of tea.
