Surgery Tomorrow Feb 22nd

Some nurses are so stupid. . (i'm definately NOT one of those, I was trained differently), but a trained nurse, even if they are a student, to panic at the sight of blood?? They should not do that and upset the patient. . .I'm so sorry that happened to you! But am really glad they fixed it. .

Today is a great day. I feel great today. I walked half way around the block yesterday. I know I have to walk more. My Husband is helping me with that. I really can not believe how great he has been through all this, so supportive. He has always been so quite on things. He has really stepped up.

I can not wait until Wednesday to get this drain out. I think I will probably drive tomorrow. Will still be working from home for a couple more days though. Monday I have to take my mother for her pre opt testing, Wednesday she has her 3 month bladder cancer surgery, Tuesday my oldest daughter has her hysterectomy. So I am hoping to go back to work on Thursday.

I have not been hungry at all which is so great. But i drink my Protein, have some Soup, pudding, popciles, etc. I am sitting here typing as my mother is fixing everyone Breakfast, which I thought would be really hard. Grandkids spent the night. But here is the thing even though the French toast, bacon smells really good.. I am not hungry, like dying for it or anything thing. This is GREAT. I have to admit I can not wait for so refried Beans and ground meat. But it is like it is a goal not a dying to have right now thing.

I guess I am rambling on now.

Thanks again everyone for all your support. I am so glad I did this. :)

Make the best of this time with no hunger. I found that my hunger started to come back around day 10. I think it's different for everyone.

It's really terrific to see you doing so well. Good luck with this upcoming week!

Hi Shylady. It's great that you feel so GREAT! It should only get better as time passes. I had excessive bleeding from the largest incision and the nurses while in the hospital. My surgeon had changed my dressings twice and the nurses had to change it also. When I came home from the hospital (5days later), the home nurse became alarmed because I was bleeding so much from that incision (also the bulb that hung was very full). She changed my dressing, called my surgeon and he had me get labs done that day and called me that night and said the labs were perfect. The bleeding lessened and finally the drain was removed and all healed nicely.

I hope that you continue to heal and reap the benefits of having the sleeve. God bless you and your family. I will keep your mother and daughter in prayer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
