Drinking and eating

Recommended Posts

I am doing okay with not drinking when I eat. I have to remind myself to take my drink away before I sit down to eat but that isn't that big of an issue. What is so hard for me is waiting at least an hour after I eat before I drink. I have started sipping something all day long and not having it for that time makes me think I am going to collapse from dehydration. I know realistically I am not but I find myself obsessing about getting a drink and watching the clock the whole time. Am I the only one obsessing about Water now? How do you all handle it and get used to this change?

I had this one rule learned and downpat with my band surgery, but I did obsess about it early on with the sleeve because the Prilosec was causing horrendous dry mouth.

Once, my body adjusted to that side effect, I really didn't obsess as much about drinking Water and watching the clock waiting for that 30 minute reprieve to have a drink.

Just curious but my doctor also said 30 minutes like Tif referenced; maybe you can double check-- I agree with you, an hour seems long!

Shoot, mine says an hour and a half! Glad I'm not the only one that sees that as impossible!

Oh and Tiff, just how much weight are you planning to lose?? :svengo: I keep seeing your ticker getting ready to run off the right side of the screen! Take care of yourself, ok??

I know it's driving me crazy. I'm truly hoping that body gets comfy sometime soon. I'm really not trying to lose weight, and I'll hold steady for a 2-3 weeks and wake up to a mysterious 3-4 pound loss. It's getting frustrating, and I know it's all about finding the right balance.

Having the gb out kind through me for another loop, and couple that with the chest cold and mucus issue, just kind of set me up for a loss. I'm hoping to hold steady right where I'm at currently.

I never imagined saying "umm can I please stop losing weight? LIKE now."

And the reason for this is to keep the food in the stomach so you fill full longer? Any other reason?

So your body and digest the small amount of food, and absorb nutrients properly also.

I do only have to wait 30 minutes to drink if I'm following the rules. I know early out I tempted fate, and let me just say, taking that little sip of anything early out hurt like hades. It caused a lot of cramping, and discomfort.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
