Do you stay full after eating?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm planning on getting sleeved soon and have been paying more attention to my eating habits and watching for my "full" signal. What I'm noticing is I tend to keep eating even after I'm comfortable because I know I'll be hungry again within an hour if I don't keep eating.

I know I will get full fast after eating very little after surgery, but how long will I stay full?:)

jp2lose,

I can only speak for myself, but I had my surgery three weeks ago and am still

on the mushie phrase of my post-op diet. I have not been stomach hungry since

the night before my surgery. I eat three meals a day but not due to hunger, due to

doctors orders. I was concerned prior to my surgery due to me being 362 pounds

and going on clear liquid then full liquids to mushies and soft foods over a 30 day period

that I would have trouble. I have not at all. food still taste great but I don't have the

hurting or craving stomach pains I would have had prior to surgery. There has been

a few times when I have had head hunger when I see something on TV or while eating

with co-workers but this tool has given me what I need to combat the head hunger.

I would not be able to eat much anyway. LOL

It's a different feeling after VSG surgery, it is like I tell people, I'm not anymore I just eat

to live. Hope this helps and good luck.

For me i've been having "hunger pangs" but they are different. . . i'll get them right around each meal time. . . new tummy knows Breakfast, lunch, and supper. . . i don't snack, so i'm ok between meals. . . i drink a bunch too, so that helps curb that feeling . . . but the hunger pangs aren't like the ones i used to get, these are way different, more like pressure or something. . . can't explain it. . . most times, if you get them and stop and really listen to your tummy, you'll find that it's head hunger and not really hunger, just drink Water during those times. . . good luck with your journey and know that we are here for you.

I'm almost always satisfied with the tiny portion I eat unless I make a bad food choice. If I stick to the rules and eat Protein first, then a bite or two of veggie and little or no carbs, I'm fine. However, if I cheat and eat the carbs first..or in a higher proportion, I get hungry again within a couple hours.

I still have not had any hunger sensations, and I'm 8.5 months post-op. I eat 3-4 meals a day because I have to eat, not because I'm hungry. But, I can eat every 4 hours and not be stuffed. I eat no more than 4-8oz per meal, and that is completely determined by what type of food I choose to eat.

I'm out of the losing phase, and attempting to maintain. My food choices are very different now than when I was the weight loss stage. I follow the Protein first rule about 85% of the time. Other times, I'll eat veggies first, then meat, then if I have room carbs.

I honestly forget to eat still to this day. And, I guess I'm one of the few lucky ones that carbs do not trigger any cravings or desire for more carby foods.

I feel full right after i eat, then i eat like after 5 hours, so i could say that i eat 3 very small portions during the day. sometimes i have eaten more on special occasions but i havent had good experiences - i tend to throw up- yuck!!

For me so far, only 12 days out it depends on the day and what I ate the day before. One day I just was not hungry after eating a Protein breakfast. But the next day I was starving. Cottage cheese fills me up better than anything so I like to eat that once a day. It is even more filling than Soup for me.

I still get hungry and find I need to eat about every 3 hours, even if I've eaten only Protein. But I'm hoping that it's because I'm still eating mushie foods and they don't stick to you as well as solids. The hunger is different though, more like just an empty feeling and I can put it off longer, whereas before the sleeve, hunger was an all out annoyance that I had to keep dealing with all day. Eliminating hunger was my main motivation for getting sleeved, so it's a little disappointing to still feel it, but at least it's tolerable now.

I don't get hungry (nearly 4 months post op) but find I stay full for at least 2-3 hours even if I just have a large mug of coffee and milk. If I eat a steak and vegetable meal (the portion size is about one fifth of what it was before surgery) it's the same. I do get restless and some sweet cravings right before my period starts for a day or two, but once it starts they go away completely.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
