4 Wks Out; Down (Only 11 lbs)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm really trying to keep up beat about it. The first 10 pounds I lost the first week and then just one pound. I had surgery on January 19th and was 220.

Wk1: 210

wk2: 210.9

Wk3: 211.2 (TOM)

Wk4: 209

What I'm Doing Right:

- Planning, tracking, weighing and measuring my food; 1/2 c to 2 oounces at a time

- Keeping weekly Protein average at about 70g

- Keeping carbs under 40

- Keeping calories 600- 800

- Good with Vitamins

Being honest with myself, what I need to do better:

- Drink more water; yesterday was the first day I got in the full 64 ounces

- Exercise - haven;t started yet; walked my dog yesterday for 20 minutes

- Less Fat! My surgeon recommends 20g a day and I've been averaging about 40g so maybe that's the culprit here.

I'm trying to look on the upside that it averages to 2.75lbs a week which is respectable and hey, can't remember the last time I've lost 11lbs in 4 weeks. But of course, it's disappointing when you're not one of the ones losing 20 pounds the first month.

Sigh.....

The scale will start moving. Have you taken your measurements, are your clothes fitting differently?

Exercise will definitely help burn the fat and build lean muscle which will help with the inches loss and pounds going down.

Don't give up! ! !

I agree with Tiff - don't give up. You can do this. I dropped a lot my first week & it has definitely slowed down for me.

Not knowing your height, I can't tell your BMI or how much you need to lose. It could just be that your body is holding on to all it has as it works through the shock this surgery has done to you.

You can and WILL succeed at this.

Just hang in there ... it will come off! There is a lot of information on stalls out here & it sounds like you are the perfect timing for one of those (I think mine is coming soon since I'm slowing down a lot on the weightloss). But for every story of a stall, I see a success story of breaking it. We'll be here waiting for your hurrah!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
