One more sleep to surgery!!

Recommended Posts

Good Morning everyone!

February 17th is finally finally almost here! Tomorrow's my day to become a Sleeve Sister! All of you have helped me figure out this journey and decided on the Sleeve. How lucky I am to have found VST. I knew I didn't want RNY and thought I wanted the Band until I came here and started reading. I feel so fortunate. So to each of you, thank you for helping me along the way.

I'm so excited. I'm visualizing the best possible outcome for my surgery and immediate recovery period. I'm visualizing no gas, no nausea, no incision pain. I figure I might as well start from the most positive aspect to create a positive experience.

My mantra leading up to surgery is "everything always works out for me, everything always works out for me, everything always works out for me!"

Maybe I'll get it together and write "my story" this afternoon.

Again, thanks friends!!

I just absolutely love you to pieces, and am so elated that your date is almost here. The title of this thread makes me giggle because we counted down the "sleeps" until John returned from deployment. That made it easier to get through.

You know you'll be in my thoughts and prayers tonight and tomorrow. Positive energy vibes coming your way.

Awww Tiffy! Love you too! You're the absolute best. I've followed your journey as I decided which surgery would be best for me. You have inspired me daily in your finding health and joy. JimsBrat is going to post over at OH in the Lightweights Forum when I get out of surgery. At least she will if my friend remembers to call her! :)

Whenever my son and I go on vacation to some far off part of the world, we always count the sleeps until we see each other again. He's coming home from NY Friday night. He's flying out as soon as classes are over on Friday and staying till Tuesday morning. I'm so excited to hear his new adventures. He's the best nurturer and will take great care of me and make it a fun weekend.

Love those positive vibes! Keep em coming please.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
