Hi!

Obviously, every individual will lose at a different rate depending on start weight, gender, age and how much you have to lose. I lost 20 lb the 6 weeks before surgery (including 2 weeks of pre-op diet). From Aug 4th (my surgery date) to Sept 3rd, I lost another 19.6 lbs. I continued to lose consistently for the next several months. Now, for the last 4 weeks, I have been in a stall - stuck  Oh well, I am sticking with it, the last 20 will eventually come off.

Most people lose 15-20 pounds that first month, and 5-10 each month afterward. Generally the heavier a person is to start with, the faster they lose the first few weeks and months. I've seen people lose 20 lbs in the first week or two, and people who take two months to lose 20 lbs! It's all normal and all very individualized, but even the slower losers get where they need to be eventually (instead of giving up and gorging themselves heavier than they were before, which I know we've ALL done LOL).

I lost 26 pounds my first month. My second month I had a stall, but still lost 14. Had an abscess in one of my incisions so that set me back from activity, but still loss nonetheless.

I am 2 weeks out tomorrow (surgery same date as you) and down 22 lbs so far. I think I am one of the lucky ones. I am tall (5' 9"), so even though I was 227 day of surgery, I wasn't huge, just more chunky than I am comfortable being. I am guessing 20 the first month would be more the norm. When my husband saw my diet, he said, "you'll probably lose 20lbs just being on liquids for two weeks." He was right. If I can, I'll switch to a liquid diet for a week when I get a stall. I go to the doc Tuesday and I'll ask him, but I assume they prefer that I follow their diet now and transition to the soft foods then solids before I put myself back on liquids.< /p>

Best of luck to you!

Wow,, I was sleeved Feb 1 as well. I am down 43 lbs, 22 of that was preop diet. I have been at same weight for 3 days now,,, yeah I weigh every day. I walk at least 1/2hour per day. I am anxious to start weight lifting but will wait until March 1, with light weights. Tommorow I am going back to strict diet.. Kinda wandered off this past week a little.

I was sleeved Feb 1st and am down 12 pounds since surgery and 13 pounds on pre op diet. Everyone's different but I'm happy with 12 pounds in 2 weeks especially since I've been healing up and getting used to it and all. I know it's hard but I try not to 'comparison' shop-- its starts to drive me crazy when I see ppl who've been sleeved near me who have lost so much more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
