SF Pudding and Ricotta

Recommended Posts

I've been feeling guilty about having sf pudding as even with skim milk, it doesn't have the Protein amount I'd like.

I tried sf pudding with Protein powder but together, they made a Soup.< /span>

Today I made sf chocolate with ricotta:

In blender, place:

1.5 cups skim milk

.5 cups ricotta

1 package sf chocolate instant pudding

- blend until smooth

- refrigerate

The consistency is a little stiffer than that of regular sf pudding. I find I can't eat as much of this compared to the plain.

Oooooh, thank you! I think I'll try that tomorrow. I had ricotta cheese today for the first time since surgery almost 3 weeks ago--1/4 cup with a little spaghetti sauce and a pinch of mozzarella cheese--and was surprised by how FULL I was after that little bit. I've been having 1/2 cups of other purees and was feeling more restriction than with liquids of course, but the ricotta cheese has been the first thing to make me go WHOA--NOW I feel it!! I'm gonna try your recipe. :)

If you want Protein pudding, look up BodyTech Dutch chocolate Pudding at Vitamin Shoppe online or in your neighborhood. It comes in individual packages, add 5-6 oz of Water. I use part soymilk (3 carbs per cup) to help cut the sweetness of it.

There is a recipe somewhere that is fat free cool whip, sf choc. and sf cheese cake pudding and ricotta. It's in the food section with the ricotta bake..I just bought the ingredients to make that too. I am excited to try it.

I am sure it would be good with any flavor of sf pudding.< /span>

It would be terrific to be able to create a 'cheesecake' for WLS. Unfortunately, Canada has fewer choices than the US.

The fat free Cool Whip we have, but not the sf. And, there are only 5 flavours of sf pudding: vanilla, white choc., choc., choc. fudge and butterscotch carmel.

Greek yoghurt can be found in specialty shops but it is very expensive. So, when making tzatziki or anything requiring 'thick' yoghurt, I strain any sf/ff yoghurt through a large coffee filter, into a bowl.

Cool Whip is great but it is whipped, which means it has a lot of air causing a lot of gas and bloating.

If anyone has any alternatives to these Canadian choices, please let us know!

Thanks bunches!

Cool whip is pretty low calorie to begin with. low fat or fat free cool whip would work fine. I would try it with whatever flavor of sf pudding you like, and the ricotta cheese. Look in the food forum for ricotta bake and you'll find the recipe for the dessert one there. You can adjust the amount of pudding with whatever pudding you use. I think it calls for one box of chocolate and one box of the cheese cake flavor. Just use 2 boxes of whatever you want. I think choc. and the carmel one sounds wonderful!

Greek yogurt is way more expensive than any other kind of yogurt. To me, it's worth it because the Protein count is so much higher and the carb count is so much lower.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
