A few questions/comments

Recommended Posts

1: I'm 7 days post op and no BM. Should I be concerned?

2: What "Labs" should I have me regular doc run?

3: I cannot seems to drink more than 16oz of Water a day- I'll start using a timer:)

Thanks AS ALWAYS!

I don't think I went to the bathroom until about day 7 or 8. Even then, it wasn't much. (Sorry TMI)

Not sure on labs.

At first, I could hardly take any Water also. It gets better. I was sleeved 1/25 and I am having no issues even gulping Water now. Take as much as you can in a day, but also know it does get better!

Liquids in you're gonna get liquids out. You aren't eating anything to make enough waste material for you to go to the bathroom. It'll happen, and then you'll want it to stop.

My surgeon pulled a Chem 20 (liver, kidney, pancreas and other primary organ enzyme, functions) Vit D and Vitamin D3, Thyroid T3, T4, TSH, Folic Acid/B12/B6, CBC with Diff, Cholesterol, Triglycerides.

On the drinking Water thing, try drinking 2ounces every 15 minutes. If you can manage that, you'll get in 8 ounces an hours. If you're awake for at least 8 hours a day, you'll get in your 64 ounces. I know it seems like a daunting task, but you do not want to become dehydrated.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
