Burning, tugging inside belly pain

Recommended Posts

Hi all- I know I posted this in a similar posting but I'm miserable and praying someone has any other answers...

I had the VSG on 2/4. I have 6 incision sites. In between 2 of them I have a HORRIBLE burning, tugging sensation coming from the inside. The only way I can walk is to hold my stomach. I cannot stand the gravity, it feels like someone is taking a blow torch to separate my insides. I went to see my doc and he said it's probably nerve pain that will heal with time. I can't bend over, situate myself, walk or anything without excrusiating pain. I'm getting very depressed because of this and I'm hoping someone can please tell me they've been through this and I'll be fine.

Add'l details: The area isn't holding any heat and I have no fever.

I've read others on here that had the exact same thing...fortunately it did pass for them and hope it soon passes for you. I read a heating pad helps... also are you taking nexium or prevacid? That might help too. My surgery is feb 18th and I'll bet you'll be feeling like a new person by then. Time for your tummy to heal. God speed.

Did you do any lifting? I didn't have this kind of pain at all post-op. I did recently lift a basket of clothes, and with my GB surgery on Thursday that was a big no no, but the pain subsided within a couple of hours.

I just hooked up to the heating pad. Hoping for relief. I know I haven't lifted anything heavy. When I first got home from the hospital I bent over to pick up my hubbys shoes & other stuff. But I didn't notice any instant pain Oh I hope it goes away soon. This is depressing.

i dont really have an answer for you, but just wanted to let you know im keeping you in my thoughts! in the beginning the nausea was bad for me and westmoreland told me it was just part of it since my stomach was so small and my body needed time to adjust, he was right, but it doesnt help anything to not have a instant solution! have you asked if he can call you in something for the discomfort and pain? and have you suggested it might be a leak? i told him i wanted a upper gi just to ease my mind and he set it up!

It is still very early days, I had all sorts of weird pains the first few weeks. Don't worry, keep on top of the pain meds, but best of all REST. You need time to heal after this major surgery.

love

Sandra

I had a similar experience at 2-3 weeks out of surgery, i was not able to walk unless i was holding my stomac at the incision or unless i wearing a gim belt around my waist. I was afraid of a hernia but my doctor told me exactely the same thing that your doctor said-nerve pain- so i just really tried to make less efort i staid in bed and rested and the pain went away in 2-3 days (i had the pain for 2 days only after a 14 hours flight back to US, i had my surgery in Romania, i also had my one year old dauther with me that just wanted to play and walk around in the plain so in my situation i think that's what probably got me exhausted). I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK!!!! and I HOPE YOU FELL BETTER SOON!!!

I was just wondering how you are doing. I have the exact same thing and was told it was nerve damage too. I am unable to do anything other than lay on my side. It is the only position I get any relief. I am so sick of laying around and want to get back to life. I can't walk, can't get in my car, can't shower or go to bathroom without pain. I hope it is passed for you now. I am on day 5 but it feels like years. I have a lidocane patch and it is not really helping. When the doctor told me it could last 6 weeks, I cried. I can't image being in pain like this for 6 weeks.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
