I'm 4 days post op . There is one incision site that is giving me TERRIBLE pain. If I give any gravity to it at all, it hurts, burns, and feels like its ripping open. I just noticed that it isnt an actual incision spot, but right next to one. Has anyone experienced this before???:biggrin2:

I can't say exactly but I did get some unusual pains near certain incisions. It is likely that there's inflamation in the area. Please don't panic and give your surgeon a call asap. Perhaps he/she should have a look. I can relate to how you feel but I'm sure you'll be okay and this will pass just hang in. I'm sure others will advise you as well. Let us know how it goes.

Is there drainage? I did have some pain near my incisions and I still have a pulling feeling near my side ones. Do you have a fever? Is the area hot where it hurts? I would call your doctor in the morning.

No fever and the area isn't warm to the touch. If I'm sitting still, no pain. If I try to walk or turn over it feels like I'm either being ripped apart or burned with a torch. I will call my doc ASAP but of course you all have been my greatest resource! Thank you all.

I had this exact feeling on my left side sort of between 2 incisions. I had to hold my belly while I walked or it felt like I would rip apart if I let it go. But no worries, it went away in a few days. I just woke up one day and it was gone.

I went to the doctor today. He said all my incisions are healing wonderfully. He said the burning sensation and pain is nerve endings. I'm hoping this will pass soon. He also gave me oxycodone to help with the pain. It seems to help a little better than loratab. Of course I'm only taking it when I absolutley have to:)

I had the same experience, but on the right side. I actually screamed out a couple of times when I tried to get out of bed. Sorry that you are experiencing it, but it does pass. Try pressing a pillow to your stomach when you get up or need to move - it helped me a lot. Were you given any pain meds? Don't be afraid to use them. Feel better soon.

Glad to hear you saw the doctor about it. That makes sense now that I know it's nerve endings since I remember it being such a sharp, burning and shocking sensation. Enjoy the meds...ha ha!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
