Lap Band ladies....does this make you hate your boobs??

Recommended Posts

I am seriously considering the lap band but feel VERY confused. WAY too many social and mental issues right now to schedule. I am really trying to absorb as much as I can about this so this is a big concern:

IF I do this surgery, amazingly lose even 60-80 pounds....wil I hate my boobs?? Will I need an augmentation?? I don't want implants but I dont want to be ashamed of the ONE thing I have been ok with on my body as a large girl after the band. I don't want to trade my fat body loathing problem for a saggy skin body loathing problem. :phanvan

They aren't even that big, I wear a 42 B but in some bras that is a little big. 42 B cup is close to a DD in "normal sized bras. I would say i am a small C in a regular bra but I don't fit in that bra band so i buy 42 C chubster bras. The doctor I consulted said that judging from the way I look, I should not have a saggy skin problem but he couldn't answer the boob question for sure. I weigh 247 pounds and would be ecstatic to get to even 170-180! Haven't weighed that since the SIXTH GRADE! Please reply with some help! :cake: Thank you!

It is really hard to say if you will "hate" your boobs. Every one is so different. Some women I know who have lost weight have lost a lot of volume in their boobs, while others lost nothing. I am fairly close to goal weight, and still have massive (H cup) boobs. They are not as full as they once were, but they still look great in a good bra. So *I* do not hate my boobs.

Only time will tell I guess.

Sorry to tell you, but TIME alone will make you hate your boobs! LOL.

Of course, with weight loss surgery, there is always the possibility that you lose in the breast area as well as anywhere else.

In my own experience. I have not lost in the actual CUP size, although I do appear to be deflated more than I was 5 years ago.:faint: I have lost in the actual bra size due to inches lost on the circumference of my body.

It's pretty hard to avoid change of some kind with massive amounts of weight loss. Then you have to factor in your skin type, etc.

I reckon if you're a B cup odds are they wont fare too badly as you cant have that much fat in there anyway.

Spare a thought for me - DD's and have breastfed 3 babies for a total of over six years! They werent that great before I got fat and had kids. One is bigger than the other too. But hey, they look OK trussed up, and I'm not going to be walking around topless in public anytime soon. I can always get a lift I guess, which I might just do.

I dont hate them, even though they're far from perfect. They've served me pretty well, did what they were supposed to do and they look as good as anyone else's.

I dont view this as something that I have to come out the other end of looking perfect. I'm 38, I've had 3 kids and I dont mind looking like it. I dont need to look 20 anymore, I've got way more to offer than I did when I was 20 in so many more ways.

You didn't mention how old you are. The older you are the less resiliant your skin is. A plastic surgeon friend of mine said the body could "handle" a 2 lb weight loss a week without significant skin sagging. Since the band promotes a 1-2 pound weight loss a week, you should be fine. For me, my health comes second to saggy skin.

I've actually been surprised by the changes in my boobs. They've improved! I was at least a 44DDD before, and now I'm a 38DD. They're not any perkier than they were before, but in other ways they're a lot better. The skin color is more even, for example; veins are a lot less obvious and the aureolas are not as huge. My underarm stretch marks are not as prominent, so I'm a lot more comfortable in a bathing suit. And as time goes by, my chest skin seems to be shrinking more, so the headlights are starting to aim forward rather than down. (Is that too much information? :cake: )

Yeah, but what do you do when one headlight stares straight ahead and the other stares at the floor, lol? I have to be careful never to get cold in public!

I have lost 69 pounds and have lost a lot of my boobs. I am not bothered because I can hide the fact that I have small or saggy breast but I couldnt hide the fact that I was over weight. I will deffinitly be looking into a breast job next year. So for me it really did affect them but it feels so good being thinner that I dont care. I will probably buy some inserts for now and hope they dont fall out at the beach. LOL

I don't think I'll hate my boobs when I've lost the weight. No matter what, they'll be smaller than they are now - THANK GOD. But if they don't shrink enough, then yeah...I'll be disappointed. I won't lie. Anything over a C cup will really bum me out.

Sagginess I don't care about so much. The only one looking at me naked is me, so all I'll need is the right bra and I'll be good to go.

I am 45 and was wearing a 42C Bra. I have lost 32 pounds and my boobs are swimming in a 40C Bra. I need to go buy me a 38C or B now. I don't care how small they get. If I don't like them, I will buy me some new ones or wear a padded bra. My butt has also deflated, again I will buy me one if I think I need it. I will probably need a Tummy Tuck anyway, so I will just get it all done at once. Even if I come out a very saggy person and don't get PS, I will be happy to be thin and healthier.

I already hate my boobs, lol. But for different reasons. When I was only 18 I weighed about 140 and had to have my bras special made because my boobs were so big. I had reduction surgery which resulted in complete loss of sensation and major scarring with keloiding (don't fear, that was 20 years ago and most people that have reduction surgery now do not have those kind of problems). My plan is to lose my weight and have a complete body make over....apron removal, Tummy Tuck, excess skin on arms, and a boob job. I am tired of laying down and having the girls lay down on each side of me. I want the scars reduced and to have them stand up on their own again.

Was that too much information????

I am already loving the changes I can see in my boobs. I have only lost 33 lbs and my bra size went from a 40 E to a 38DD and they look much perkier. Also the veins are smaller AND I only have to wear one sports bra to the gym now instead of two!!! Yeah!!!

Me too! No loss in the cup size at all.

I am so looking forward to mine getting smaller. I've been hauling around these 52DD's for too many years now.

If I can get back into a 46 D I'll be thrilled. Pretty lacy bra's here I come again :grouphug:

I havent lost cup size either in over 40lb. Just back size.

In fact, becuase I had to go down to a 16 in the back from a 20, I actually went from a DD cup to an E.

That sounds like HUGE bosoms, but I'm pretty tall and medium build so they really dont look particularly big. And they dont get in my way terribly much, no neck, shoulder problems etc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
