Ok..here I am again for some post op help. :frown1:

I am almost 11 weeks out and I have some new issues that are both mentally challenging as well as physically challenging. I have some days where I can't eat very well. I just have NO appetite and I have to force food down..only that is not easy at all. I think it's anxiety related which leads me to my next issue.. I have increased stress in my life right now and have anxiety..I haven't been here much in the past two weeks due to crazy times..

I guess without my friend "food" to always be there with/for me I have no release. I'm not hungry or craving anything .. just still "miss" the comfort of having the food. I miss knowing I had it to look forward to.. if that makes sense.

I am exercising 4x a week and I try to have down time and just relax but this has come up a couple of weeks ago and it's not much better. I have times when my tummy feels acidy or "sour" and I'm on prilosec already.. didn't have this problem early on so am wondering what is going on? I try pepto tablets, tums.. etc and that helps a little bit but it seems to be only temporary.... did anyone that has been sleeved a long time have anything like this happen and if so any recommendations. How do we get all our food in if our tummy is icky and will this go away.. current fear is this can't be permanent.. that would be a huge and horrible thing to have to deal with.

I'm hoping someone will say.. yep that happened to me... was great.. had some changes.. got them under control and I'm back to being great! Hoping for some hope that this is temporary and that I'm not alone with this especially with anxiety being higher....

Thanks for reading and responses!

Chandra, I dealt with the "force feeding" thing, and it totally grossed me out. For me, I had a hard time finding anything that tasted decent since my tastebuds changed so significantly. It did get to the point when I stuck to eating the same things over and over until I just couldn't tolerate the monotony. I missed food as well, not the taste of it, but the sheer joy in eating. So, you are not alone.

As for the sour stomach, I ate a lot of yogurt, and greek yogurt, plus took Probiotics and all of that seemed to help.

I was super stressed during my recovery, and think that caused some of my issues. I had an emotional stomach pre-op and it only got worse post-op. Anything could set it off. John and I having minced words, my kiddo being a brat, or my family drama would send my stomach into a tailspin. I'll tell you that all I did was let go of the stress and it helped. I walked away from a situtation if I knew it was going to lead to an argument. I would leave the house if I felt cooped up. I had a lot of anxiety anytime something felt "wrong" or if I had to go back in to the surgeon. I was constantly worried they'd find something bad. The first 4 months for me were the toughest, but little by little things got better.

My response probably didn't help much, but know that you are not alone in how you are feeling.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
