Ok, I was told last week that my chart is on my surgeon's desk. He needs to check to see if I've had all the tests required before surgery (they are done!). My chart then goes back to the surgery scheduler and she will then call me with a date. She told me to expect that it will be in about 6 to 8 weeks. Now that I have done all I was supposed to, I want it to happen NOW. I'm sure other people have been as impatient as I, right????????????

Diane,

Gratz on getting your pre-exam and testing done. I am done as well. I have a tentative date in May. I do understand what you are feeling. You have 6-8 weeks and I have about 4 months - it feels exactly the same hehe. I, like you, want to get it done NOW. I live in Norway and had made arrangements already to go on vacation to see my family in the USA in April. They wanted to do the surgery in March. I, of course, booked my tickets about a week before I called into to do my pre-exam and testing. It is ALL I can think about. I am on this site, like, 2-3 times a day. I am a sleeve addict right now LOL!

Good luck in the quickest date possible. Keep us posted, I will be following your progress =)

Rob

Thanks to both of you for the encouraging words. I am following multiple forums. The inspiring words keep me motivated. This site really gives you the feeling that you are a member of a large family. Also lets me know I am not alone in all these strange feelings I'm having. I've waiting this long, what's another 8 weeks or so, right? You all have a nice day.

Hi Diane,

Are you a Kaiser Patient? I am part of Kaiser Richmond in N. California. This week I finished all of my pre-op requirements, weight etc. My surgeon was not available to me until Mid-March, due to his schedule and also mine. My case manager asked if I'd like to switch surgeons so that I could get a February date, so I jumped on it.

Is there any chance that someone else in your surgeon's practice can step in?

Yes, I'm with Kaiser in Fremont. I am waiting for the surgery scheduler to call me and when she does, if it's going to be later than March, I did wonder if I could ask for another surgeon. Sounds from what you said they're letting you do this, so it sounds hopeful. Please keep me posted after you have had your surgery. Best of luck and I'll say a prayer for you.

Thanks for the prayer! I do know that each Kaiser program is different, but it never hurts to ask. The thing to consider is that whomever does your surgery becomes your doctor, if that matters to you.

Thanks Chandra for your words and the website resource. I will definately check it out. I am involved already on YouTube with a WLGroup and as a vlogger. I love seeing other people succeed at stuff. It is so encouraging. I will keep you posted. Go to see the doctor on Thursday to talk to him for the first time since this process began.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
