I'm here cheering for all of you!

I got a very sore throat yesterday which has gotten progressively worse. I guess now I'm glad that my surgery date was changed to the 17th. Everything happens for a reason.

I can't wait to hear all of the wonderful reports from each of you! This is going to be a very good week of success stories. :sad0:

Hey Bella K, I am waiting for a date with Kaiser Fremont, I have had all the tests they asked me to have, Mamogram, pap, sleep apnea, psych, I have reached the surgery goal weight they set for me too, in fact i am below it by about 3.5 lb, I called in all the information to them when they told me to, now how do I get a date going, I want to get on a cancelation list if possible. I really want to get this rolling, I am anxious to light this candle and start losing. Any advice for me? I sure hope so thanks

The best advice that I can give is to contact the Case Manager because at Richmond, that's the person that schedules the surgery. I met with mine and she gave me an oral test and we talked about what I've been doing to prepare. If Fremont has a case manager, call and get an appointment. You're gonna be sleeved before you know it! Hang tough and keep calling them. They'll get sick of you.

Have you been assigned a surgeon yet? Email the surgeon to let them know that you've completed all requirements and would like a date.

Good luck and let us know how you're doing. :001_rolleyes:

So I am starting a 3 day liquid diet (not impressive for those for who have done it 2 weeks). I am not too nervous today but I expect that tomorrow the nerves will start. It helps to be busy packing and planning what to eat after I am post-op. I am also trying to do the 50 reps of breathing exercises the Doc prescribed. Anyone else have to do this? I don't mind because the deep breaths are actually relaxing.

Just can't believe that I will be on the losers' bench on Wed. I did the class with bariatric coordinator on Fri and that was great because she detailed exactly what would happen starting with when I arrive at the hospital at 5:30 AM:eek:.

I just want to wish all my fellow sleevers the best of luck!

Best of Luck Pennie!

My surgery is tomorrow at 12:15. I have been on the Clear Liquids for 3 days now and I am so hungry. Friday was difficult, Sat. better, and today was hard again. My stomach is gurgling all over the place and I want to EAT.... I was thinking today how long it will be before I actually have solid food in my stomach again and it was making me kind of sad. I feel a little emotional today. Not too nervous, although I am sure tomrorow when I get there I will be. I know that the coming weeks will be a challenge and then it will get better. So I need to focus on summer and how much better I will be feeling by then.

Good Luck to everyone having their surgery in the coming weeks. I will post when I can

Diane

Diane, good luck tomorrow. OMG, a three clear liquid diet on a full stomach sounds brutal. I too think about it will be like to live on the Protein Drinks and shakes and not have food around for emotional comfort. I plan on becoming obsessed with the Winter Olympics to take my mind of the liquid diet. LOL. Anyway, let us know when you are back and positive vibes for a speedy recovery.

Bella, my surgery is on Wed at 7:30 in the morning. I have to be there at 5:30:scared0:.

Good luck to all my sleevers to be. Keep in touch:thumbup:

Hey surgery pals:

Well...the Pico Salax wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I now have a squeaky clean digestive system, and considering I've just been on clear fluids since last night I'm not that hungry.

I have to check in tomorrow at 6am, my surgery is at 7:50. I'm the first one in that morning.

I'm nervous....my DP is nervous, and the kids are a little wacky too.

:)

I have been reading everyones posts and thought I would join in. I am also having surgery on the 8th (which is today). It is after 1 in the morning and I will have to say I am very nervous. I have never had a surgery that I planned (gallbladder and apendix emergency). I can't really say that I like the feeling. I keep wondering did I ask all the questions that I needed to...am I making the right decision.... I know that I am tired of living in this body and can't wait to feel more like the person that I want to be. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will check back in when I get home.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
