Everything is going to work out WONDERFULLY for all of you! I am 6 days out and it was the best thing that I ever did! (I already know it!)

For those of you that are scared-what exactly are you scared of? A life change? The surgery? The loss of food as a comfort? Something else?

I had all the above fears, I promise! My surgery went beautifully. Very little pain at all. If you do a diet before, it will really help with the diet after. Find a Protein Shake that you like BEFORE. It makes things easier. It is just such a good way to get Protein in. I like Muscle Milk light in the chocolate milk flavor. Finding a protein Syrup is probably a good idea also. I like Proti Diet Grape and Orange. You can add the syrup to tons of different things (greek yogurt, Water, etc) and it also helps get the protein in. Find Soups that you like. (strained)

Otherwise, relax. Take a hot bath. (I wish I could right now, but I have to wait until fully healed) If you are having really bad anxiety, tell your doctor. I was having severe anxiety before and he offered me Xanax. I didn't take it because I honestly already had some . Everyone needs a little help to get through sometime and there is nothing wrong with asking for something for a short period of time.

My anxiety was unneeded. I feel great, I have lost 25 lbs in two weeks (pre op diet and post op) and I am so excited about what the future holds for me. I have two beautiful children (1 and 5) and they deserve the best ME. I am SO happy that I am sleeved! Congrats for making the first steps forward-you will do wonderful!

Hi Excited2Lose!

What a great report post-op. Thank you so much for posting this! I'm so happy to read how well you're doing post-op. I think that reading positive reports helps everyone to relax. Please stop by often!

Hey folks:

I'm also having the sleeve on February 8th. Thank god I found this thread. I'm fluctuating between denial and panic - - ok, well maybe it's not that bad.

Tonight I'm having my own version of my last supper. chips and a Cocktail. Tomorrow it is my first day on my pre-surgery Protein diet. Considering the cocktail may turn in to a couple, and the chips are probably loaded with trans fats, I figure my liver is going to need all the help it can get.

Does everyone have to do a complete bowel flush the day before the surgery. I have to take Pico-Salax the afternoon before. I've heard it's hellish. Hopefully the pre-surgery liquid diet will ease those nasties up.

Hi Clock,

So happy to hear that we have another on the 8th. I hope you enjoyed your "last supper" yesterday evening. I think we all have different requirements the week before surgery. I'm just supposed to stick to my 1200 calories a day, but since my scale is up a pound this morning, I'm definitely doing Protein and very low carb this week.

I have to take Milk of Magnesium on Sunday. I can honestly say that I'm NOT looking forward to that. Mostly just because I hear it tastes like crap. I'm going to eat very light in the days before as well.

I spent a lot of time up your way one summer. Beautiful country!

Hi All,

Here I am sipping on my Muscle Milk Light (I love it too) and I wanted to say Hi to all my fellow Sleevers-to-be. I just picked up my post-op pain medicine and it is a huge bottle of syrup! I wonder how long I will be on it. It looks like it will last a long time.

Tomorrow, I am going to Wal Mart to get my final shopping list done. I need to get a sippy cup and the rest of my Profect-like drinks. And I want to get new underwear--is it funny that I care about how I look in the hospital? That's my mother's influence there.

Take care everyone.

I do not have surgery til May, but I want to wish all of you luck, especially you Bella. I hope you keep your weight down pre-op so there is no cancellation. I have wanted to do the same as you about dumping things out of my kitchen and dumping stuff out of the house. LOL...I have months to do it. My wife said that we should not dump out everything in the fridge and cupboard because they still live here and they will eat as before LOL...gonna have to be ok with this one I think. It will be fine. Again, good luck to everyone having there surgeries in the weeks to come.

Peace,

Rob

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for the kind words Rob. That's pretty funny about your wife not letting you dump the fridge.

So my surgery got changed. So much for me starting this great group for the week of the 8th. I'm now moved to February 17th. I actually like the Wednesday better anyhow. But heck, I'm sticking with this great group. Now most of you get to go before me and I get to tag along behind! :)

Bella... So sorry to hear that your surgery being postponed....that sucks. Even a short time must be a disappointment.

I had my pre-op at the hospital today. Had to see the anesthesiologist, have an EKG, visit the vampires at the lab, and see the nurse about my bowel prep. She said she had to take the Pico-Salax herself for a colonoscopy, and it wasn't pretty!

Milk of Magnesia shouldn't be too bad. I remember having to take that as a kid...I remember it was like minty tasting chaulk.

Another day, another Muscle Milk. LOL. Yesterday, I mixed a vanilla Muscle Milk with PB2 (the lowfat Peanut Butter powder) and it was great-a break from the sweetness in most of these shakes. I also got my box of Protein powder samples from the Vitalady website and I don't know if I should try them now or wait til I am post-op. I hear one's tastes really change.

Bella, I am sorry too that you got postponed. What a bummer! I had to delay my operation three months and that let me have one too many "Last Suppers".

Take care, everyone.

Hi to everyone being sleeved in Feb!

My date is Monday and I was feeling calm. The hospital called today to go over all of my info and I can feel my anxiety go up! I know it is normal but I will just be so glad when it is done - and I can move on from the surgery. It is very nerve wracking to think about all the things that can possible go wrong even though you know you are doing the right thing long term. I start my 3 days of clear liquids tomorrow so I know I will be very anxious for Monday morning to get her. My kids are both coming in town (1 in chicago, and 1 in college) to be here :thumbup1: I am going to just try to enjoy the time with them and stop stressing myself but it is easier said than done! I wish everyone the best and I will post an update soon.

Diane

OK, we are in the home stretch:scared0: I have to go to wedding today and I can't not spoil my pre-op diet. No cake, no appetizers, no champagne :sad0: But it's all good because I am doing it for a higher cause:thumbup:

I hope all of fellow sleevers are feeling good and not too crazy with anxiety:crying: Let's stick together and post a lot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
