Post surgery full liquids.

Recommended Posts

Bambi,

Similar story here, I made a powdered broth that netted four cups of liquid - I left the noodles there, of course, but I drank wayyyy too much of the broth - probably two cups within 40 minutes!

I felt terrible afterwards in two ways; one, it ran right through me and I was in the john for much longer than I should have been... sorry... and two, I felt like a total ass for thinking I could consume so much at once. I'm not sure why I did - tasted good? Head hunger? Anyway, I have been dwelling on it since I did it - three days ago and since have started measuring four ounce portions and slowing the hell down! So far, so good. Let the Sleeve Education begin!!

Good Luck,

Carol

Keys - thank you so much for writing what happened to you. I have been dwelling on this as well since I did it..Not only was I silly for drinking all the Soup, but the amount of calories and carbs I consumed was outrageous....I've been reading people are having all kinds of Soups, but I never thought to start looking at the calories and carbs. When I did I really freaked out! Well tomorrow is a new day...

Excited - I actually am having the opposite problem, haven't had the runs at all...I'm going to start adding metamucil Fiber to my shakes tomorrow. I hope that will help things move along...

Bambi,

I don't know why, but my program said to stay away from the Metamucil and to use Benefiber instead, but not to start it until 2 weeks out. I found some Benefiber crystal light type packets to add to Water as well as a big bottle of it from costco. They said not to worry about not pooping in the beginning because of the liquids stage.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
