Finally the scales are moving...

Recommended Posts

After almost a lllloooonnnnggg 4 week stall the scales are moving again, thankfully downwards. I lost a total of 30 pounds since getting sleeved on Dec 21. Thank you all for the encouragement, but for your support it would have been difficult to stay positive. BMI down from 41 to 36

It happened to me too!!! Sleeved Dec 10 , lost 25 pounds and 15 days not an ounce.

Finally yesterday 2 more down.

I was relieved , thought that all of this was only to loose 25 pounds.

Hello all...I was sleeved on Dec 11th and I had the same thing happen...only it has happened twice now. I lost 20 lbs almost immediately and then stalled for 3 weeks. After that, I finally dropped another 9 lbs, but now I have stalled AGAIN (been going up and down the same 1lb for 3 weeks now). It really is discouraging, but I'm hanging in there. I know drinking lots of Water helps, and I have a hard time drinking enough. I also have been finding myself more hungry lately...I think I need to try and not go so long in between meals. Anyone have any other suggestions? Also, what Vitamins are you all taking? Thanks! Pattio

Its depressing. I think I need alot more help than a few sheets of paper stapled together from my doc letting me know all about the RNY diet.

STALLS STINK!! I was sleeved on Dec 8th. By January 11, I had lost 40 pounds. (some of that was from being hospitalized for 11 days around week 3). Since January 11, I have only lost one pound! That is all in 23 days! I am getting in good calories now (at least 650 - 700), carbs in the 20's, Fat in the 20's, and Protein in the 75 - 90 range. Drinking lots of Water and doing eliptical or walking everyday. Somebody tell me what gives? For a while I was patient with the stall but everyday it gets more and more frustrating. Have I gone thru all of this ordeal for just 40 lbs? Do our bodies find a comfortable spot and decide to maintain there?

I sure wish it would go back to week 2 and 3 when the scale moved even a little bit everyday. Jeez!!! I did have to go buy a few slacks this weekend and was able to go from a very tight 18 to a comfortable 16. So I guess that is an accomplishment in itself for 2 months - but the scale needs to MOVE!

This is exactly why i refuse to keep a scale in my house. . i would be so depressed with myself, i'd cry. . . i go to visit my doctor for my 1st month out on the 16th and will see what i've lost at that time. . . can't wait, i know i've lost a bunch because my clothes are really loosely hanging and people keep telling me "your fading away" "aren't you loosing too quickly?" . . . so even though I can't really tell other then loose clothes, I'm sure it's coming off. . . good luck everyone!

These posts are very encouraging to me. I've been stalled for 4 weeks now and am trying hard to stay un-discouraged! I did have an NSV - I was able to get back in some size 16 jeans that I haven't been able to wear for 6 or more months!

Lucygoose you sound JUST like me I'm in the same boat.

It makes me stay away from some threads where people are all "I love my sleeve" lately. I feel like such a failure. Until that scale moves down in a substantial manner I'm really scared.

I am having the same problem! I have been bouncing up and down the same 2 pounds for 2 weeks now. I get so depressed that I went through this ordeal and the loss has stopped already but I know deep down that it is just a stall and I WILL get losing again soon. It is hard to look on the bright side, but it is helpful to see that it happens to us all....guess misery loves company, right?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
