katldy 0 Posted January 29, 2010 So I have finally decided that the sleeve is for me and I have set a surgery date. I decided to go with Dr. Aceves instead of Dr. Alvarez. After alot of research, I just felt more comfortable with this decision. My surgery is scheduled for 3.8.10 and I am very excited!(Nervous as well). I am getting alot of static from my sister about having the surgery in Mexico but I am comfortable with my choice. I just don't know how to make her understand why I chose to do this in Mexico b/c she thinks its all about the money. She is an RN and even though she knows that the states don't offer any better care, she is extremely worried about the possibility of complications and my being in Mexico if that occurs. I just don't know how to alleviate her fears. Can anyone help??
Lee 19 Posted January 29, 2010 Hi Katldy, I just wanted to say congratulations on setting a date!! What a great step you're taking to improved health. I'm still pre-op so can't really help alleviate her fears, but from everything I've read on both this board and OH, people do great in Mexico!
Dee 39 Posted January 29, 2010 Suggestion: Have your sister talk to Renee Dr. Aceves coordinator she is an RN.

katldy 0 Posted January 29, 2010 I know that you can purchase international insurance for when you travel outside the states but I still need to research that further. As far as what they will cover, I believe that they don't cover any complications from the surgery but they would cover hospitalization if necessary. So the hospital stay but not any surgeries that would result from the procedure. At least that is my understanding so far
