What dim-sum could you eat at one month?

Recommended Posts

My hubbie and I have been asked to join a couple tonight for dim-sum. I have never had dim-sum, sounds like fun, but I am a bit at a loss as to what I will be able to eat. I am about 1 month out - eating soft foods - but not beef, pork, fried, rice, pasta..... You know what you eat at about a month. Any recommendations on what I might be able to order, sleevers? Thanks for helping me be prepared as I head out tonight!

I had to look up through Google exactly what all Dim Sum included. If you're on the soft stage, could you order some of the Soups? I see a lot of seafood so maybe you could order a soft, white fish menu option.

It looks pretty interesting, and kind of reminds of a Cantonese/Chinese version of a Tapas Restaraunt. It's a bunch of different small portions.

Have fun and let us know how it goes.

Hey girl! I love, love, love dim sum! I think Tiff is right, Soup is gonna be your best bet. You could try a steamed dumpling, but you would be having a bit of Pasta that way. I won't lie, I had one in week five (without the doughy ends of the Pasta, just the meat in the middle and a slight bit around the middle) because that was the day I tossed my Cookies, and I felt week, and China was the next stop at Epcot. ;-)

You could always have the dumplings without the pasta at all. Still yummy and quite tender.

Have fun! Having japanese tonight, myself. Tomorrow is six week check up with Dr. Nick!

You guys rock. Egg drop Soup and dumplings sound like a go for me. At least I have a bit of power going into the new situation. It makes me feel so much better if I have bit of a "plan."

At 1 month after my surgery I was allowed to go to regular diet foods, but I still had to be selective and had to chew, chew and chew my foods, because I did not want to do anything to my stomach staples. I am almost at 2 months now and I eat nuts, meat and other things that require lots of chewing. If I eat too fast, I find that my food does not digest very well.

While I was on soft foods from week 2-4, I did eat some things that were not as soft as they should have been, but I chewed them up very good and ate them very slowly. I hope all went well with the dim-sum.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
