klynn 0 Posted June 9, 2006 I Have Had 2 C-sections And Also This Surgery And I Had One For The C-sections But Not For This But If They Do Give You One It Will Be After Your Asleep, But It Is Not Painful To Come Out And You Will Be On Antibiotics So It Should Not Cause An Infection.. It May Be Nice If You Have To Pee Right After Surgery But If You Do Not Which You Will Be On liquid For Days Before The Surgery And Nothing For 12-20 Hours Before So I Do Not Think That You Will Have To Go To The Bathroom.. Angelator 0 Posted June 9, 2006 I had a catheter put in while I was still under anisthesia (thank goodness--wouldn't have wanted to see what it felt like going in, that's for sure!). When I woke up I couldn't really feel it. It wasn't until I got up to go for my first walk that I could feel it. It wasn't as painful as I thought it'd be. In the long run it was tremendously helpful because it hurts to get up and down after surgery (using stomach muscles is painful right after your tummy has been poked into). I was worried it'd hurt coming out, but it didn't really. Don't worry, it's not bad at all.
Boo 3 Posted June 9, 2006 I did not have one, either. I went to the bathroom right before I went in for surgery. The surgery is so quick and Dr. Ortiz has an excellent anesthesia, so you wake up completely alert about 30-45 minutes later. Anyway, don't worry about a catheter! Marimaru 7 Posted June 9, 2006 I didn't have one, and would almost wish I did, just because I had to pee SO BAD when I got to my room. Other than that, it was a little painful to have to get up and go every now and then, but at the same time, it had me up and walking, which is good.
