What was your energy level?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery a week ago and have had a fairly decent recovery. Not a lot of pain, some acidity and grumbling stomach, a little pain in the main incision if I bend over, but nothing over the top. However I feel like I may not be getting enough walking in. I have only been able to walk a block and it exhausts me. Today I had to go run some errands at target and the grocery store and I almost passed out. I certainly cannot walk fast. I have been getting a decent amount of liquids and forcing down the Protein but getuting a minimum of 40g. Is my body going into starvation? Am I expecting too much? Was anyone out of energy a week post op?

You'll be tired like that for a couple weeks. Your body is burning a lot of fuel to heal you after the traumatic event it feels it's experienced. That's also why we drop so much weight the first 2 weeks (18lbs for me)

Cooper. This is very normal. Your body is adjusting to eating less calories, so it "protects" itself by making you tired, so you do not "burn" the stored fat. Off course you want the opposite. That feeling will fade out in the 3rd week or so... please drink a lots of liquids...

I'm about 4 weeks out now, and for the first time today did some major work. . i went out on the lawn and hand pulled all the weeds, yes, bending down, not sitting. . . wow it took me 2 1/2 hours and when i was done, i had a great looking weed free brown lawn and was very very exhausted, thought i was going to pass out, my legs didnt want to move and my eyes kept glassing over, got myself into the house and right away laid down on the couch slept for 3 hours straight, the phone woke me up, if it wasn't for that i'd never woke up! But after i got up i felt so good, i felt accomplished, sore back and legs but accomplished!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
