MINI-Me 196 Posted January 20, 2010 My doctor uses a 36 - he says it leaves a space comparable to a thumb when everything is said and done. It will hold between 60 and 90 cc. There is a great thread out here to give you a visual ... Boughie size comparison Welcome and best of luck!

filodough 1 Posted January 20, 2010 mine used a 32. my understanding is that there is not a huge difference. not big enough to stop you from losing the weight you expect.
SnowDaisy 73 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) Thank you for your replies. I'm not sure what size my surgeon will decide to use on me, but I understand that he uses anything from a 30 upwards. Every time you read about people stalling or not losing weight after WLS pouch size is quiet often named as a possible cause. 32 seems to be the most popular size Snow xx Edited January 21, 2010 by Snowcrystal
Lee 19 Posted January 21, 2010 My doc said he's going to use a 40 on me. I may ask him about that next time I see him. But truth be told, there really is very little difference.

Tiffykins 673 Posted January 21, 2010 There's minimal difference between 32 and 40. In a couple of studies, it's been shown that anything smaller than a 32fr runs a higher risk of strictures and esophageal dialation. Here's a cool pic for reference size:
