Hi girls...

Dr. Aceves is not going to be in surgery that weekend March 12-14. He has a conference he is going to attend.

I am looking into the 19th now with 'Stuck'.

MlkPas - Still set on going local? If you do schedule for the 19th, let us know!

KRYSTL166 - I have the same price for march. :thumbup1:

I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves on Feb.9th and I received the best care I have ever had in any hospital. Dr. Aceves and his assistant Dr. Campos came in to see me many times each day. The hospital is incredibly clean. I crossed the border with an enhanced drivers license. You can use these if you drive across either the Canadian or Mexican border. You guys will do great.

I am a new member to this site but have been reading all your helpful posts. Reading this site helped me decide to have the gastric sleeve vs. the band which is what I had originally planned. Thank goodness I found out that it was an option before I was banded. I was really having doubts about the band and life with the band. No one in this area is yet doing the sleeve - most likely since it is not covered by most insurance companies yet. But I do know a few surgeons who are interested. And thank you for helping me find Dr Aceves. I just lined up my surgery and it will be in just 11 days on March 22nd!! I too will be traveling alone, flying into San Diego. I am hoping that it goes well and is not too painful as I have never had surgery before. Wish me luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
