Vickie1177 0 Posted June 8, 2006 I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and my doctor put .05 cc in. I thought he was being very stingy with the fill. Two weeks later I feel absolutely no restriction. I can eat a side of a cow now (cooked). I emailed my doctor and he said that I should start eating like raisin bran between meals.. I didnt get this surgery so i can eat 5 times a day. But enough of me rambling I set up another appointment for a fill on Tuesday. Is it wrong for me to ask him to put more SALINE in? I do have a 10cc band. Hopes place 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Disneynut, Thanks for replying and I would really be interested in following your progress. I was banded 3/31/06 with a 10cc band and have 1.6cc and sometimes I wonder if and when I need more. Some days I can eat anything and then the next day I am tight. I am losing very slowly, about 1/2 pound a week; however I am now in Onederland (199) from 222 and that to me is success. I want my band to work for me fast because I am 58 years old and times a wastin.......hahaha So thanks again for sharing and please keep us posted on how you are doing with 4cc's. Iulizbug 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Vickie1177, I absolutely think that you should ask for more saline. I would be miserable with only .5 of a cc but that is just me. I know that eveybody reacts differently to different amts of saline but that seems a bit low to me. I know that I could eat a cow with my first fill of 2ccs!! I was beginning to think that I would never gain restriction. :help: However, on my 2nd fill I did request that I had a rather big fill so I can speed up my weight loss (I was too only losing 1/2 lb to 1b a week...) and I don't regret asking for it! I am at 2.7 ccs now and the weight is coming off much faster. Everybody is different and most docs like to start out conservatively but .5 cc is a bit too conservative to me. Ask to be filled more and explain your slow weight loss. I am now at my sweet spot I believe b/c my doc did go more aggressive with my fills upon my request. Good luck to you! ~Liz~ banded 03/10/06 Dr.Ortiz 241/200/150 5'7''

MelodyJ 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Vickie--- Your doc was VERY conservative....my doc put 2.4cc in my 4cc band on the first fill....he was aggressive!! But 0.5cc is nothing hardly!! I think it's reasonable to ask for a little more!!!! God Bless, Melody Banded 3/20/06 -49lbs
Vickie1177 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Thank You Liz and Melody I forwarded this thread over to my doctor maybe this will shed some light on things for him..... Hopefully he will listen. I ate so much today all good food but it was too much I want to loose my weight and I am miserable when I see the scale only going up and not down Thank you for the advise Vickie
PhotoNut 7 Posted June 9, 2006 For those of you interested in band types and capacities, have a look at this thread. There is a chart and pictures of the bands on the thread, so be sure to scroll down after reading the first post. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15216
disneynut 0 Posted June 9, 2006 Hopes place - Thanks for thinking of me. I had a fill on Tuesday, June 6th (4cc in a 10cc band) and I feel restriction after two days. I read a lot here that restriction sometimes doesn't kick in for a week or two but since I definitely have restriction now, I'd hate to think what would happen in a week or two. It's perfect today - this is where I want it to stay! :biggrin1:
Tired_Old_Man 1 Posted June 11, 2006 I had my first fill yesterday what a normal amount for 1st fill?I got 1.6 in a 4 cc band is this good or about normal??? My first fill was 2cc into a 4cc band. There are too many factors to take into account to have an exact "norm", but it seems in the ballpark.
bluehill 0 Posted June 11, 2006 Inamed makes 3 sizes of band. There is a 9.75 cm that holds 4 ccs, a 10 cm that also holds 4 ccs, and the 11 cm Vanguard that holds 11ccs. I don't understand the big jump in capacity between the 10-cm and 11-cm band -- from 4 cc's to 11 cc's? Is that right? I have an 11-cm band, and just had my first fill of 2.5 cc's. After five days, I still haven't felt any restriction, and I'm feeling pretty hungry. So I'm wondering whether to call my doctor for another fill.
lianna 3 Posted June 11, 2006 My bad...the 11cm band holds 9ccs. Check out Photonuts link a few posts back. It shows pictures of the bands unfilled and filled.
