Prayers and good thoughts needed

Recommended Posts

I need some support today. My husband is undergoing pretty major surgery to remove some bone in his hip this afternoon. He is parapalegic and has had some major health issues the past 3 years. In fact, I have almost lost him a few times.

Soooo... any good thoughts, prayers, white light or whatever your thing is sent my way would be greatly appreciated!

My family's prayers are with you and your husband, I pray that God will guide the Doctor to do what is needed and that then God will lay his healing hand on your husband and give him peace and rest through all of this. I also pray for a hedge of protection for you while this is happening and that God will give you peace and rest so that you will have a complete peace about all of this.

Drewslou, I will definitely keep your hubby and family in our prayers. I know where you are coming from. My father has been a quadriplegic for the past 40 years. I was six when he broke his neck in a diving accident. He is in ICU right now. On Wednesday his fistula (sp) for dialysis ruptured and he lost 3 pints of blood had to go in and have surgery to reconstruct the artery. I know the health issues with Quads & para. Keep up the faith and god is always at your side. Please keep me updated on his progress.

God Bless, DeAnn

I wish I'd seen this earlier so I could have been praying for you guys as well. But I know that God is good and has heard the prayers that were lifted up for you and your husband, so I trust that all went according to His perfect will. I will be praying for comfort and peace for you and your family and will be anxious to hear back from you.

Prayers for your husband that the surgery is easy and totally successful. We ask that this surgery's recovery be swift and start him on the road to better health. Thank you God, already done. Amen.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. Hubby came through surgery like a champ. It was a pretty complicated operation per the surgeons but all went well. He didn't even have to go to ICU after! This has really been a tough past few years with his health and I'm hoping we are finally going to see a light at the end of the tunnel... just hoping it's not a train! He will be in the main hospital at least through Tuesday and then may move to a step-down unit for a couple of weeks. So much for a fun 3 day weekend!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
