Feeling tired & Sleepy

Recommended Posts

I am new to the site. I was sleeved on December 29th, 2009, so I am 20 days after surgery.. the weight loss has been remarkable (started at 229 Lb, currently @ 199 Lb.. goal is 180 Lb).. I am still eating liquids and soft foods (Soups, small Pasta dishes, eggs, juices, fruit purees, etc - per nutricionist recommendations)...

I started to feel very tired and sleepy the last week or so.. I have added a Multivitamin every morning.. but the feeling is the same... I am trying to take long walks as recommended, but I am too tired to do so...

Perhaps anyone can suggest something? I am thinking about drinking energy supplements, but I am affraid of the high sugar content. Any similar feeling and/or stories on how to overcome this will be appreciated.

Jab, are you taking a B12 sublingual Vitamin as well, we are supposed to take 4 supplements, multivitamin, Calcium, B12, and Iron. . . are you taking those? If not, get onto them and see if you feel better after a few days ok. .

good luck!

This is so weird. I was sleeved the same day, and I am EXHAUSTED today. I went to a basketball game yesterday, so I had a bit of a hard time getting my food in. I just woke up from a 2 1/2 hour nap - that is a nap! I feel kinda foggy too, I wonder if I am too low on my carbs? I hate this foggy head feeling. I am trying to eat a bit more than usual today. I hope it goes away after a day or two. Not fun.

My energy levels were low the first month out (not right at the beginning) and I needed to nap/rest every afternoon. I suggest talking with your surgeon about your supplements.< /p>

Thanks Everybody.. I just started to excercise yesterday, so I will see how my body reacts to it. I also added B12 to my diet starting tonight. The multi-Vitamins I am taking has 100% Iron content, so I do not think I need more than that. I have also purchased a sugar free Protein mix to avoid the hair loss.... Any other supplements / drinks you can recommend?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
