Hello again! It's been so difficult to know if I will be successful post-op because I know the key to success is exercise. At this point, when I get home from work I am so drained from a basic day that I have no energy. It's very hard to even get out of bed most days. I know in my head and heart that I need to exercise, and yet I don't seem to be able to. Will this motivation or lack of energy change after surgery?

YES it will...I was the same way. After you loose about 25 lbs. your energy level goes up. Plus it is a necessity to exercise. YOU HAVE TO!

We all start out walking, then increase the intensity as you progress.

Listen to spunky music that will keep you moving at a fast pace. Walk with a friend, do what ever it takes. The more you walk the better you feel and the easier it gets. After a while you look forward to it.

I am at the Fittness center stage. I have a physcially demanding job, I'm on my feet all day, and walking, lifting, pulling etc. When I get off work I'm really tired. But I have to go to the fittness center because it's the ONLY time I have for exercise. Believe it or not, I feel BETTER after a work out.

Monday Water aerobics, weight lifting, Tuesday treadmill and Zumba class (dance aerobics). Wednesday OFF, Thrusday light weight lifting, Water aerobics, Friday 2 mile treadmill, Zumba class. Weekends off ! By the weekend your need a break from Work and Work outs. But It's working, I'm loosing inches, and weight slowly. But that is how I want to loose it, not fast, slowly and keep toned as much as I can. You can DO IT !!!

Thanks, Judy. That's what I was thinking, but of course there is no way for anyone to know how your going to feel after the surgery. I would only assume that after losing weight the energy level would increase, but thought I would check. I'm hoping I will be successful in losing the weight I need to, but more importantly (and like you said) doing it slowly. I do not want to have the loose skin issue that many people have when the weight loss is too rapid. Keeping my fingers crossed!

It took me until I was about 1 month post-op for my energy levels to return to "normal," but I couldn't let that stand in my way of getting in some exercise. It just meant I took a lot more rests that first month out (especially in the afternoons), it was usually easier for me to walk in the mornings because I seemed to have more energy.

i'm pre-op too,and i so know what you mean!!

i have the same problem, and to add a few more my left knee and right foot hurt constantly from the weight.(bmi 51)

the only thing i can do after work is eat and sleep an hour or so.

i know it's not the healthiest thing to do, but exercise or walking seems impossible,at least for now.......

Hi Guys,

I am also pre-op and as of a few days ago made the decision that I need to get of my butt and get to working out again like I used to. I find that I am way to tired to go work out after work, so I get up a little bit earlier and go to the gym for 20 minutes on the elliptical before work. Even thoug hit has only been a few days I feel a much better and am much more energetic throughout the day. I want to be pretty "fit" before my surgery in order to cut down the risk of complications.

Hello

Have you had a sleep study done? Your remark about it being hard to even get out of bed in the morning to me is an indicator that you are having sleep issues. I used to be this way, but I had the sleep study and was prescribed CPAP. It has changed my life. I no longer am tired or run down, even after a hard day's work. I wake up energized and ready to go. I do hope that losing the weight will rectify my apnea issues and I wont have to wear the CPAP anymore. I was waking up 27 times and hour and had 8 heart events a night where my heart would stop beating, one time up to 30 seconds. My oxygen concentration was dropping into the mid 70% range because of this. It truly is a serious problem for many people out there and they don't even know it. It might be something for you to look into.

Bill

Bill-I'm not sure if I truly have any sleep disorder, but I have thought of it. I have not seen anyone about this becuase I haven't seen any "signs". I am hopeful I am this way just because of the strain my additional 100 lbs. puts on, but I guess we'll just have to see. After I lose some major weight, if I still feel this way I will go to a sleep study. Thanks for the info.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
