I need help, from someone without a weak stomach..= ]

Recommended Posts

So as I posted in someones recent post as a reply,I want to film my surgery. I want to make a short documentary, maybe just something that sheds a little light on Medical Tourism as a whole. The problem is I cant film my own surgery. I need someone to do it. Well, I dont even have a family member or friend that can come down for support let alone stand in an operating room, not pass out and film the process. My family other than my father isnt interested in helping me (my two sisters), and my best friend cant afford to go because he has no job. I dont really have anyone else but my dad and he is in Iraq. Is there anyone that lives close to San Diego that would be interested in doing this for me. Id just need you to cross the boarder and film the surgery. After I wake up and and I am conhearent, you can hand over the cam and ill document my after surgery thoughts and feelings....You'd be doing me a huge favor..I didnt really plan on paying anyone. I was just hoping someone would feel the same way I do...they are tired of hearing how stupid it is to go MX for surgery and wants to help. You can reply to the post or pm me thats cool.

Thanks,

Tiffany

Sounds like a cool idea! Before you get too far into it though.... did you clear it with the surgeon and the facility? I'd hate for you to do all that planning and then find out that they won't allow it.

I know documentary film makers in LA but they'd need expenses and probably some payment as well. Let me know if you get to the point of looking for someone that you'll pay to do it.

I live close enough. I am thinking about it. I do not have a squemish stomach. I just need some time to think about this. As an alternative, could you have one of the people on staff hold the camera? Not one of the nurses of course, one of the support team. Or, if you are going to Dr. Almanza, maybe Dr. Betencourt would film the surgery. I mean you are only talking one hour of filming. So, maybe you should enlist their help? just a thought.

Great suggestions guys. I am going to Dr Almanza. Dr. Belancourt is the one that suggested if I was going to film it that I definitely need someone there to film it. He likes the idea, but they didnt really make it seem like there was anyone extra there to help out. If I really cant find anyone, which it is still quiet early out, I am going to email back and forth and see if either someone there could possibly do it or if I can just set up a tripod. As for paying someone, that is really out of the question for me, I am totally broke but thanks for the suggestion. Although this will be informative, and documentary like, it will most likely be split into tiny films and slapped on youtube for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks,

Tiffany

I'm in El Paso. If I were closer like Phoenix, I'd help you out. I don't have a weak stomach and have witnessed a few surgeries. We are going to be in southern CA a month prior. I don't know if I can talk my husband into taking leave just a month later so I can drive out to SD. If you get desperate, I can maybe swing it.

If you Email Dr, Betencourt abot having someone from staff do it,be sure to tell him you only want them to film the operation and you will do the rest. You are only asking for about an hour of anyones time. You are going to do the rest yourself, right?

I still may be able to come and do it. I am still thinking about it. I am only two hours driving time away. I just think for a four hour trip to shoot one hour of film is kinda not a really good use of time. Maybe you will meet someone going at the same time that will shoot for you? Anyway, I am still considering it.

Tiffany,

See if you can hook up with others who are having surgery on this date. I am sure at least one of them would video the surgery for you.

There is only one operating room at the Jerusalem Hospital, so everyone has to wait his or her turn. As my roommate at the hospital waited her turn, she watched my surgery on the OR monitor.

Good luck!

Toni

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
