My belly hurts

Recommended Posts

I just came off liquids and am starting of soft foods. The first day

I blew it and ate too much of the wrong thing. Lesson learned. Ow! Went back to liquids and soooooft foods. Cottage cheese, poached egg, creamed Soup, canned fruit, etc.:hungry:

Now my belly hurts. Not my stomach, but my gut. I am so full of gas and it hurts. It is really uncomfortable to sleep, but in the morning, after much more gas, I feel better. Felt better all day at work. Now, it's after dinner. I had pureed chicken Soup and canned peas. I'm starting to have a belly ache again.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what I can do ... or not do to stop the belly pain?

Hello

I had exactly the same - I was banded 3 wks ago.

I went to the doctor and she prescibed a daily tablet that disolves on the tongue called Zoton Fastab - it's generic name is Lansoprazole. This tab reduces the acid in your tummy. Also I was given 15mls 3 times a day of a suspension called Mebeverine to dispense the wind. The pain is gone - it was VERY bad and now it's completely gone so please go to your GP - I have other pain (hip) but that gassy belly is gone. These are British medicines but I'm sure the generic name would be the same in the states.

Good luck Tidge.

I guess that what the docs say are only guidelines and everybody heals at different rates. Perhaps take it a touch more slowly, make sure your food is very mushy and eat little and often, not a larger amount in one sitting?

I had something similar and used gasx for a couple of weeks. That really helped.

I'd back off the fruit and veggies a bit, anything that causes gas. And yes, the Gas X strips help a lot, so does Mylanta. I had the same issue the first day I started solids.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
