Exercise ball?

Recommended Posts

Hi! So I bought a body ball and am now making the fiance pump it up for me :001_wub:. Hahaha. Anyway, it came with a little exercise booklet but I haven't tried any of them yet since I'm only a week and a half out. I was wondering if anyone else had one and what ya'll do with them? Do they work well? My physical therapist suggested getting one and just sitting on it when I can't be active (since I'm a student that includes lots of studying time bleh!) and that it would help tighten my abs & help with posture. Any thoughts?

I also got one of Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs - it has 5 different 12 minute miles. I did two earlier, so 2 miles in 24 minutes....and I thought I was gonna die! :scared0: But now I feel better! And accomplished! LOL. Don't worry, I saw the doctor today and he said I can do whatever exercise my body allows me to do. :thumbup1:

I had one, and did attempt to do some of the ab exercises, but found myself on the floor more often than actually being able to do the exercises properly. I use one now at the gym for wall squats.

I got one that has sand (I think) in it--it's called the "stay ball," so it helps it from rolling around and me sliding off. I really like it, but have not pushed myself to use the dvd that came with it very often. I just kind of do a few reps of the same ab moves. Sitting up tall on it and bouncing is supposed to help, I planned on using it for that when on my laptop and/or watching television, but I always seem to find the sofa or chair more appealing.

I have one and it does help with abdominal exercises. It felt good on my back with stretches and you can lay on your tummy on the ball and do push ups, extend all the way with your ankles on the ball to increase the Resistance. It will work your abs if you sit on it at the computer.

I used one a couple of years ago with a trainer and he mostly had me doing ab stuff on it. I thought it was easier than doing the crunches on the floor, and I have a ball at home, and can pump it up, but there's no plug to keep the air in!!! HA!

You can sit on it and bounce when you're "studying" - that helps tone the leg and butt muscles. I also use it to do sit ups - it's a lot easier on the back - it takes a bit to find your "sweet" spot so you don't roll off or feel as though you're going too - but once you do, it's amazing how it helps with the sit-ups and how much you can feel it in your abs.

Leslie Sansone's tapes are good, too - I just get tired of hearing her voice so I generally mute her and turn on other music.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
