amerigirl 0 Posted January 14, 2010 Need a suggestion on unflavored protien that I can add to my Water, and I don't have to order from the internet.
MINI-Me 196 Posted January 14, 2010 Unfortunately, I had to go with the internet since I couldn't find any unflavored Protein in my local stores. If you choose to go with the internet, I can recommend: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GIUQOG/ref=oss_T15_product]Amazon.com: Optimum Nutrition 100% Any whey Instantized whey Protein, 2.7-Pound Tub: Health & Personal Care[/ame] Best of luck. If you find something else that you like, please let us know.
Katrina 1 Posted January 14, 2010 Nothing I can think of local in most places as far as unflavord. Online I have heard a great many people saying powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury its good but the smell is a little off in the container but ok when mixed. just my 2cents worth I am pre-op
Brendasgonnalose 4 Posted January 14, 2010 Check at Walmart, I found Kelloges Protein Water flavoring. Not real high in Protein but some. Also they had some vials of Clear liquid 26grams per vial that I think where 3-4oz. each I think these were fruit flavored, but I haven't tried it for taste yet. Tracy46545 6 Posted January 14, 2010 Just remember that Unflavored doesn't mean tasteless. It just means it's not flavored with a fruit, or chocolate, or vanilla. unjury unflavored is pretty good. Haven't honestly looked for an unflavored in any of the stores.
amerigirl 0 Posted January 14, 2010 Would this work in the clear liquid stage?
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted January 14, 2010 I bought unflavored Protein powder at GNC for my clear stage. It's their own brand. It was fine mixed in crystal lite, SF, Hawaiian punch, etc. I didn't use it all up, so I mixed in in with my chocolate fudge pudding flavor from BSN lean Desserts and got rid of the rest of it. Brendasgonnalose 4 Posted January 14, 2010 Amerigirl, Itried these, the orange mango tasted ok, they do have buttermilk and milk solids in it so not sure if it would be considered clear as I could not see thru it when mixed. Brenda
Tiffykins 673 Posted January 14, 2010 Both of the GNC's here offer a couple of different options of unflavored Protein. I got a couple of samples from the one GNC on base. I agree with Tracy about the "unflavored". They didn't have any flavor, but there is definitely an undescribable taste in them. Good thing about GNC is that they will take back products even partially used/opened containers.
amerigirl 0 Posted January 14, 2010 Tiffykins, Were they the store brands at GNC? Is the taste awful or would it be tolerable in Crystal Light? Are they ok for the clear liquid stage? I have a credit for GNC so that would work really well. Plus there protien is on sale right now.
amerigirl 0 Posted January 14, 2010 Just saw Oregon's post. I think I will try the GNC Brand. Is this it? Are the Isopure ready made drinks ok for the clear liquid stage?
Tiffykins 673 Posted January 15, 2010 Tiffykins, Were they the store brands at GNC? Is the taste awful or would it be tolerable in Crystal Light? Are they ok for the clear liquid stage? I have a credit for GNC so that would work really well. Plus there protien is on sale right now. I hated every single GNC brand of Protein. I had 1 sample of the unflavored that I tried to mix in the orange flavored crystal light, and I couldn't tolerate it. I also tried mixing it in greek yogurt, couldn't eat it. I'm super picky though, and can't tolerate the way most Proteins smell. I'm not saying it won't work for you. I know some people that love that stuff. Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted January 15, 2010 Yes, you can use the Isopure ready to drink on the clear stage. I woudldn't buy too many though, because most people don't like it. I tolerated it just fine though. My GNC unflavored came in a tub. Maybe they have smaller amounts that you can try. You can mix it in anything that will disguise the taste, but I would not mix it in Water. Walmart has their own brand of sf stuff that is like crystal lite and there are all those packets of different stuff near where that is on the shelf that you mix with Water and you can mix the Protein powder in that stuff too. Lee 19 Posted January 15, 2010 This morning I'm trying the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored in a cup of Earl Grey tea. It was a hassle to make. Put the powder in some Water and stir, then make tea and watch it cool to 130 degrees. Add a bit of fat free half and half to cool. The stirred the Protein into the tea. Reheat a touch. Smelled yuck. Added a cap full of Toriani sugar free vanilla so that I smell that when drinking. This is the first unflavored that I've tried. I don't think I'd like it in Water or even crystal light (which I find too sweet now). Maybe in a cup of Soup or in Jello. I'm not a big coffee drinker but I might try it in a cup of Decaf over the weekend. I'm still pre-op and experimenting. If I don't like something now, I'm pretty sure not to like it later.
