o.k. I have never been so frustrated. Before the sleeve, I would not eat and lose a few pounds and stall out. Now I have been on a 5 week stall. Going nowhere! My husband says I don't eat enough. I am having difficulty getting all my Protein in but I am very close to my 60 grams. I lost most my weight Pre op and then 20 the first two weeks and I was sleeved on Nov 19. What gives here???? I teach and I am on the move all the time. I walk the halls constantly during my planning period and drink Water. I feel like I am constantly cramming water protein or supplement down my face. Help!!

Have you talked to a nutritionist about your diet?

Do you track your calories, Protein, and carb intake?

You may need to shake things up by either upping your calories, or changing your menu. Sometimes that's all it takes to get the scale moving again.

Have you taken measurements? Are your clothes fitting differently?

I too had a very frustrating stall that lasted 3 weeks. My weight continues to move very slow, only a 2 lbs a week, sometimes 3, sometimes 1. But it is moving. I have from 600 to 1000 calories a day, 50 - 80 grams of Protein, and try to keep carbs below 40. I walk every day, I go to the fittness center and burn off at least 500 calories every evening. I have a very physically demanding job, I walk all day at work, plus lifting & pulling. I am a floral Mgr. @ Kroger. Some days are less strenuous, but for the most part I'm very active. I'm thinking my problem maybe Ketosis. Sugar will distroy ketosis. And I've had Protein Bars and Protein Drinks with small amounts of sugar. I have also had a hershey kiss here and there, plus a bit of chocoloate here and there. I'm thinking that may be my problem. Check the sugar in everything you eat, I'm going to have to do that, and see if it makes a difference. I hope things get better for you soon. I know how dog gone frustrating this can be. I mean I used to eat a TON of food, anything and everything I wanted, and I'm eating less than a 1/4 of what i used to eat. You'd think the lbs would felt off like crazy, but they are not.

Like you...I don't get it...but we just have to keep trying. I wouldn't go back to where I was for anything though... I feel better, I look better and I am better. DON'T GIVE UP you can only improve from here....Keep your chin up girl!!!!

I know exactly how you feel. It wasn't the carb counting, etc that helped, it was me LETTING GO and allowing my body to do what it does naturally. I stopped stressing and lost 3 lbs in the last 2 days after stalling for almost a month.

I tried changing carbs to 30g a day, no change, I made sure and got my Water and Protein in too.

The only advice I have is to stop weighing yourself for at least a week and just be happy you are not gaining and THINK THIN. I did that and it is coming off again. Plus my surgeon says the cookie cutter bariatric diet doesn't work for 20% of us, so you may need to up your caloric intake. Mine went up from 600-800 to now 1000-1200 and I am losing. Since you are so active you may need more.

Each of us is different and it is a hard process to find out what works for each of us. The best thing you can do it "jump start" your body again. Go back to the pre-op diet and take 2 Protein shakes a day and then 2 lean Protein meals with steamed veggies and see if that shakes it up a bit.

Don't give up!

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I hope something changes soon. I do not have many carbs at all. My Protein drinks have less than grams which is the most that my dr. allows me to have. I am not eating as much as I probably should but I eat what I can hold. I do not force myself to eat. Still only 2 oz at a time and 2 liquid meals and one Protein meal in the evening. I constantly walk at work. I have joined the gym. I even logged my meals for several days this week and I surely am not over eatting. All my friends keep telling me how much I am losing and yes my clothes are showing a change. But... I just don't understand the reason that scale will not move...

I hope this will not last much longer! But... I am glad that I am not gaining...

Yes, at least your not gaining, i think that is very important. . . and maybe your body thinks your starving and is holding onto all the calories, like they say here in this thread, try upping your caloric intake and see what happens. . . good luck

o.k. Finally the scale is moving. It is only a little but some is better than nothing. thanks to everyone that has given advice through these very tough weeks. I also found a Liquid Protein that delivers 15 grams of Protein per ounce. It is called Protein 100 and very tolerable. I would rather down it and be done with the entire thing. I have also ordered some protein bullets that delivers 42 grams.

Add in 200 calories to your diet and start to think positively and tell yourself many times a day that you love yourself and you need to be thin, healthy, happy, and strong to survive in this world of predators.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
